Forum Harrasment Features

Please give up an option to block trolls from a thread you created.
The ignore function isn’t good enough because it doesn’t stop mentally unstable people with too much time on their hands from hijacking litterally every thread.
I don’t use the forums because I enjoy arguing with toxic people.
I’m here because I want to address issues with various classes and offer long form solutions. This is absolutely impossible to do because any attempts to address anything gets lost in the noise of hate filled trolls.
The fact that I’m even writing a post about this is a problem, I don’t like having to constantly fix a game I’m paying for, I like it even less when the only option is a toxic cesspool I want no part of…

Unfortunately, the In Game “Submit a Suggestion” function doesn’t allow players to write about long complexes problems and offer solutions.

It would be a massive boon to the community in general if we we could both prune toxic trolls from our threads and submit longer form suggestions.

*Edit: Since I can no longer reply on this thread because a “Cummunity Member” flagged it and even my ability to post on other threads was temporarily disabled, I think it’s safe to say that any notions of free and open conversations can be thrown out the window.
I guess the “ignore” button is to subtle.
Now if you could use that “power” to go after people who are actually spamming threads, that would be nice.
If someone can choose to ban one person because they are feed up with actual trolls, then this entire site is, as Taliesin would say…

The forums are a public place, similar to if you walked into a crowded room to discuss something: everyone has a right to participate.

All that can be done is any one participant can consciously choose to ingore the responses of selected others. There no removing undesirable people from the room.

For the behavior you’re criticizing, words like that are not much better on your part, Lucael.

A forum is a place for folks with differing ideas comes together - not an echo chamber of folks blindly agreeing with one another. Blizzard, much less anywhere else on the internet, will want only blind agreement as it does nothing in the end.

One could argue that a thread is like a house or a party. If someone picks a fight with all the guests, it is well within the rights of the host to kick them out. The town hall argument falls apart on the internet pretty quickly.

How about offering longer form suggestions in the In Game “Submit a Suggestion” function.
If blizzard is going to ask us to use the forums for for anything that requires more than a few words, then either the Suggestions feature has to change, or the forums do. Preferably both.

That feature is for in-game suggestions, not the forums. The forums are not made by Blizzard. They are made by Discourse. You could head over to their site and make the suggestion, but I don’t think it’s one that would gain much traction.

The difference here is that it’s Blizzard’s house. You are in their house having a conversation and they get to decide if the other person is breaking any rules.

That said, the others have covered the purpose of the forums pretty well. It’s a place where people are welcome to have civil discourse (hence the software name) yet are required to follow Blizzard’s rules…not yours. Simply saying that someone else is trolling, doesn’t make it true.

Edit to add:
Having taken a little look at some of your recent posts in another forum…uh, you need to start using the Ignore feature of the forum. Your own posts could certainly be considered trolling/toxic in some cases, so I’d recommend using a little self-control and the ignore feature too.

You can’t make suggestions on the site. They just tell you to use the forums or the In Game feature, which as I have already established, does not allow long for suggestion.

Also, is it Blizzard’s house or Discourse? Because that’s a contradiction. It’s either blizzards umbrella or it isn’t.

Here I am debating what should be a universally reasonable customer service suggestion but if blizzard is never going to hear it, why is this thread called “Customer Service.”
Why bother posting anything at all?
I would much rather just play the game.
I’m only here to fix in game problems, but now I have to fix the supposed feature that should “in theory” allow us to to submit fixes.

It’s not. It’s Customer Support. A forum for players to help other players.

Discourse (not to be confused with Discord) is the parent of what Blizzard’s forums are created from. Blizzard makes the rules of what they allow on the forums, but the base coding and such, that’s a Discourse matter.

You’re contradicting yourself, you can post feedback on the forums under the relevant categories.

As for this one, you can summarise your feedback and then link to your main feedback thread on the forum. Problem solved.

Blizzard’s rules. Discourse’s software, custom-built version for Blizzard.

We all follow Blizzard’s rules on the forums and that includes understanding that the threads we create do NOT belong to us. We do NOT dictate who replies to them. We shouldn’t be making comments like you recently were in another thread such as saying to someone else “you know-nothing know-it-all.” That’s trolling.

It’s called Customer Support actually. You’re receiving support by pointing you in the right direction to provide your feedback.

Nobody is forcing you to reply or post.

In case it comes up, here’s a handy-dandy link to the forum Code of Conduct:

That will not happen. The forums allow posting by anyone with an account currently in good standing and a subscription. People don’t get to make a thread then block anyone they disagree with from posting.

If you make a thread, you are going to have to deal with the feedback you get, even if you don’t like that feedback. People are not always going to agree with you.

The forum software is made by Discourse - meaning that company ads or removes features. Kind of like using Microsoft products where MS makes the softwre changes.

This is Blizzard’s website though - as in if you are here you play by their rules. If you feel someone’s post is breaking the forum rules, report it. Otherwise, put the person on Ignore and do not respond.

You are never going to get the ability to prevent other posters from posting. You are never going to get the ability to create a thread and block everyone who disagrees with you.

Blizzard, and only Blizzard, determines posting access and penalties.

Mirasol has summed things up pretty well.

Forums are open to anyone with an active account to contribute.

No one ‘owns’ a thread, whether or not they started one.

If someone is breaking our forum code of conduct, please report the post.
