With how the forums are currently designed, it is normal.
You can circumvent it by recreating the character on the realm you just transferred from and that character will inherit all the stats you left behind.
Your stats are saved to a name-realm identification. When you transferred, that identification changed, but the old identification still exists in limbo. You have the brief window to reclaim it, or someone else can once that window closes.
