They make the forum more like some awful Twitter-esque social media thing, except it’s a real pain in the (insert whatever word here you wish) to navigate; it deletes posts after a certain period of time, which is awful in and of itself. I can’t even figure out how to look at my post history (something I know people really enjoyed being able to do) unless someone has replied to a post I made.
My question is; who asked for these changes? Did we want them? I think this new format is terrible. The idea of having to pay for the ability to use a forum that is enjoyable to navigate and post in, wasn’t such a terrible thing.
Also, actual moderators are scarce and replaced by forum MVPs, so that less people have to be paid, and one of prices you pay for a free forum with less moderation, are other abilities taken away, such as the ability to paste simple urls, which is ridiculous since no internet-based social community prohibits this these days-- they’re literally built on this sort of thing, the act of being able to share links with people! So, this in turn results in you being forced to bypass such a thing by altering url text; e.g.; ‘imgurdotcom’, ‘twitterdotcom’, etc., in order to do something you’ve always been able to do or are able to do literally anywhere else on the web…
Why post here if you’re limited so much? Granted, some changes are helpful and/or good, but I can’t even make a technical post about an issue with the game and post a screenshot with it anymore, let alone get a response from anyone. So, what’s the point of posting here? This place sucks.
Nothing has changed in regards to moderators or MVPs, other than moderators have better tools behind the scenes.
This is also not a free forum as a subscription is required to post in most places.
FYI, I have no moderation powers. All moderation is done by Blizzard employees.
The forums are not significantly less utilitarian than the old one and with some demonstration of intent over a period of time you can definitely do a great deal more. Even trust level 1 people can embed youtube videos–something not possible on the old forums.
The old software wasn’t holding together well. It takes a bit of adjustment, but I’ve gotten used to the new form fairly quickly. And soon a great number of people will be able to do a great deal more than they used to be able to.
In all fairness moderators deleted them manually after they got so old and became inactive in old fourms.
Actually there are more CMs now new faces even, but instead of comments they use the flag and review system and are in support quite regularly. Not hard to find at all.
Well it’s better than putting it in and being silanced for using language that’s not allowed on fourms sooo…
Subjective, some people really enjoy the fourms, also theres no more posting limits which is nice. To be fair some moderation is still new and were all getting used to it, even the CMs.
You need trust lvl 3 to post links. Which is fair since inappropriate links could’ve been shared. Now you have to work hard to troll lol its beautiful.
Again subjective, it’s not so bad actually I myself like the new fourms. But to each their own I guess
The company upgraded to a more streamlined system to carry the traffic their games get. This has zero to do with what you personally like. That’s not how it works in private companies, sir.
I agree Crepe, change is difficult for us humans sometimes, but thankfully we can adapt, as such I’m actually liking these new forums a lot more. I feel more engaged now for sure.
Really? Seems like a contradiction. The amount of sex, violence and language that can be found in YouTube videos, and you can embed them here, but someone who’s subscribed to Blizzard games for more than 10 years, is no longer able to post an in-game screenshot to report an issue they’re having with the game, because they’re not LEVEL 3 Prestige Poster, or an MVP? Sounds awful, and I feel alienated.
I like these forums as well, i was skeptical prior because of skme of the changes i read but one of the things i really like is not having to refresh the page on my phone all the time lol.
You’re wrong and this entire post is wrong. On the old forums I couldn’t use the emote. On the new forums I can react to people and use the emote. Therefore, the new forums are better.
Well I cannot say that I asked them but I also don’t think that every decision blizzard makes has to be about us. And once I found out we were getting them, I very much wanted them.
It is interesting that you think moderation is scare when even many of the so-called “shills” have been noting in thread after thread about the over-moderation of these new forums. To my eyes, MVPs have not been any more present than usual but even if they have been nothing has changed. They are still just players whose only ability to “moderate” is by using the flag system the same as the rest of us.
Why do you? I mean, I do because it has become habit for me to check the forums everyday. I hate the like limiting but there are some sites that you can link to and presumably these have been approved by Blizzard so that is fine. Its no different then having a code of conduct that doesn’t let us bully each other or make derogatory comments. Blizzard has decided what is okay. Random linking would be problematic.
Again, their forums, their rules. Cliched I know but it is actually factual.
The level 3 privileged is for gifs / images from [any] site. Like, the discord upload server or some random image board on the internet, but you should be ok if it’s from trusted sites like imgur. That is what I understood anyway.
It doesn’t make sense for anything to change from how it was before. If I had a bug in game, I uploaded my images to an imgur album, and then I linked it. Why would they prevent us from doing that now?
That’s from my EU account. It’s basic, not flagged for anything and I barely meet the requirements for Trust Level 1.
