Forsaken Paladin

Undead Paladin would be so cool. Just wanted to say my piece and make it official that I have been holding out for news about this for a while. I mean, we have priests.

With the reintroduction of the Scarlet Crusade/Forsaken conflict in TWW there has never been a better time. I hope that one day we will see undead pallys running around in retail, as the current horde options are not for me.

No. Not worthy of the Light. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

What if people in game could buy a potion to change their appearance like their race for example but it would only show for themselves.
Then they could look how they want and you wouldn’t have to worry about all the pretentious lore people having their heads explode when they see something that’s not cannon

No. No it wouldn’t.

The strongest argument against more pally races is “Blizzard would have to make new mounts” but I don’t think that’s a great one.
No, they don’t.
Afaik there is at least one existing armored version of each races token animal(cat, wolf, dead-horse, etc), so all that needs to be done is recolor the armor gold.

i’d love that. and for them to fix their poor posture lol

they can be priests. and paladins were formed from the priest order. so idk if that argument can hold water

Well, until they basically retconned Turalyon into being a Priest first (which makes no sense, as he was the most martial minded of the original Paladins), they were all Knights of the kingdoms taught to use Holy magic by the surviving Clerics of Northshire. Even after the Turalyon retcon, none of the Paladins had been those Clerics of Northshire, as Turalyon was supposedly a Priest in Lordaeron.

Still, that doesn’t even really matter. WoW’s story has been jumbled so much that there’s really no point in sticking with anything anymore. There’s no guarantee they won’t just change it later. Like maybe in Chronicles volume 5, they’ll re-arrange the events and we’ll find out that Humans invaded Draenor hundreds of years ago and put a jar of cookies in Nagrand, which drew the hungry Draenei there…

what’s the point you’re trying to make here? the post was a little convoluted. its their story to tell. things get retconned and we move on. movies, tv shows, and books all do it. racial restrictions are not what people want in their games. race is a flavor in this game. let people pick what they want and if you don’t. keep your head cannon and play your way. that’s your prerogative. who’s to say it would be a retcon moving forward. until it happens it’s all conjecture. there are many ways to add them without a retcon. it’s a fantasy game they can always evolve and grow

Absolutely. And as the people who consume the content, we get to critique it. Just because “it’s their story” doesn’t mean that retcons and story beats are automatically good. Sometimes it just doesn’t make much sense at all (Turalyon) or just comes across as bad (Shadowlands).

But my point about Paladins not being formed from the Priest order is clear. Even with Turalyons retcon, they weren’t formed from a Priest order, but were pious Knights of the kingdom. Unless, of course, Turalyon is now said to be the only member of that Priest order.

Still, that’s not even my main point. My main point is that the story isn’t worth bothering with anymore. It changes so much that it’s like trying to keep up with fanfic. Good stories need structure. They don’t rely on (or even use) retcons. Retcons are a poor writers choice to deal with story beats they just don’t feel they want to anymore. And because they’ve screwed up the story so badly, who cares if Paladins were originally made by teaching Knights holy magic? Just make Forsaken Paladins. Have them be Paladins because they ordered a special “Paladin Diploma” by sending in 3 box tops from RagnarO’s Cereal and 5 cents postage to some Goblin for all I care at this point.

like I said we don’t know if there will
be retcons. they could write that their are new ways to harness the light or whatever the case may be. evolving a story isn’t exactly a retcon. maybe they thought that one way was the only way but learn it wasn’t. a lot of books do that. lean you to believe this is the only way for something or someone was the only person with a specific ability only to learn that there are more people like them or that there was a hidden sect of people who learned their own way to harness the light. its all conjecture. i’d rather not assume the worst. until it happens its not worth being mad about.

Makes sense if they can be priests

Not in my book. The undead are an abomination that should be cleansed from the lands of Lordaeron. They were never cool, and they’ll never be in touch with the Light well enough to be paladins.

Personally I just wish they’d remove all race/class restrictions now. What’s really stopping a gnome from going into a cathedral and learning about the light? Just let us play whatever class race combo we want.
