I am one of the Forsaken.

I always played this character as a High Elf who was killed and raised during the scourge invasion of Quel'Thalas, and freed by Sylvanas (and therefore Forsaken). Canon DK timeline be damned.

Of course, in solidarity with her people, she calls herself Sin'dorei, but that transition would have happened somewhat after death, undeath, and freedom from the Lich King.
