Forgive me for posting this but this my honesty

What is the point of this game for now? I do not understand the whole popularity of the game. My friend wants me to play, but when I look at the game I shrug and feel like this game is boring to me. I still have my sub up for 6 more days, but I just do not know what to do in the game? I play the game for like maybe 10 minutes just screwing around queing for a dungeon and then just logging out and uninstalling the game. I have a learning disability and I honestly get bored quite fast. I get it , i’m a scrub and I barely touched the game because of end game content, but I am not in a rush and nor will I ever be in a rush to do any fancy gear farming or anything. I been playing this since 2009 and I only played it coz friends want me too and I did and now i’m older and i forgot what to do and its like my attention span is crap… Diablo 4 i get into quite well coz more action. This game ? I feel like it’s just a stand still for me coz i have nothing to do no goals in mind in the game and i’m always broke in the game and everyone is way more level capped and gear capped than I am. Creating a character seems a bit weird because you gotta look at the stats and attributes and i’m not good at that. So what is there to do for me in this game that i can be entertained? i’m a complainer and a procrastinator and i’m bad at the game and i just uninstall when I can’t figure out anything to do in the game. Thanks for hearing me rant for nothing. Sorry if I made a bad post. I’m just a scrub who doesn’t know how to game very well.

Interesting. Interesting indeed.

If you don’t enjoy the game, there’s no reason to force yourself to play it

If you mean racial stats, those are pretty minor tbf, just play whatever race you want.

Regarding your issue, you said it yourself, you lack a goal, you could aim for raiding, m+, PvP, maybe do all the quests in the game, collecting Pets, etc.

Could also try different spec/classes to see if one fits you better.

But if none of that works, the game might just not be for you.

There is a lot more to do than just waiting for dungeons, but this game is not for everyone. It would be especially boring for people who have short attention spans, although they have added all kinds of recurring events to do at any time.

This game has always been about farming.

Farming titles
Farming gear
Farming gold
Farming mounts/pets

If that doesnt excite you then there isnt any reason to play.

There’s your answer then.

Go play D4, I know they need the players.

That’s fine. It just may not be for you. We’ve all got different tastes.

This is an MMORPG, where there’s lots of different things to do and different paths to take.

Modern MMOs are appealing to like… 2 groups of people:

  1. People who get on the Endgame Treadmill and actually LIKE staying on it (the people pushing seasonal ratings every time, maxing gear, clearing all of the raid content, etc). Doesn’t necessarily mean top end players. Someone can fall into this category and be skill capped at Normal Raid and M+6 or something. That’s fine. They still like the Treadmill.
  2. People who just like collecting things (especially visual things like outfits and mounts). Tooooons of people play WoW and FFXIV and the few other notable MMORPGs and basically just farm trivial content to make their character look good. I like looking good, but this’ll never be my thing. It’s a boon to a game that I already enjoy, not a game in and of itself.

If you aren’t a treadmill guy and don’t care about collections, MMOs as a whole probably aren’t your cup of tea. At least not modern PvE-centric MMOs.

Exception for Runescape because it’s so different, but honestly, it’s a single player grind with a chatbox over there. MMORPG in theory but not in practice, most of the time.

And the genre not being appealing to you or anyone else in your boat isn’t that surprising. There’s a WHOLE LOT of WoW players who played / have played for somewhere between 10 and 20 years who would literally never touch another MMORPG, but for some reason got stuck on WoW years ago.

yep. it’s a video game. if it’s not fun, there’s really not much reason to play. hopefully you find something you enjoy more!

Well if you just sit around orgrimmar waiting for queues to pop, then yeah the game will be hot garbage. Might be better if you went in the world, did the campaign, progressing your character.

Part of it for me is my autism and the other part is nostalgia. I really only play WoW because its familiar and even when others ask me to play another game I dislike them and immediately come back to my safe zone in WoW. It’s just comforting for me.

The other part - nostalgia - is because I have played this game since 2004 and have so many great memories attached to it.

Now that is something we both agree on.

The purposes of any game is for entertainment. If it’s no longer fun, don’t play (certainly don’t pay a sub-fee or grind gold to keep access to a game you don’t enjoy in its current state).

a man in a red robe is holding his arms in the air and smiling .

Stop comparing yourself to other people and just try to enjoy the game.

And if you can’t enjoy the game . . . welp, games are optional.

the point of the game is to have fun.

if you are not having fun, you should stop playing, and play something that you enjoy better. every game isn’t for every person.

that is universal to all video games.

You don’t have to like a game just because it’s popular. There are billions of games I don’t enjoy. Keep trying games until you find one that gels with you and see if your friend wants to try that instead.
