Amani are just so different, especially with their new models in midnight.
I know that, but the customizations reward mentions âAmani Appearances for Darkspear TrollsââŚ
The issue is that the Amani use entirely separate models (and the females use an entirely separate rig). This isnât like Dracthyr, where the model mostly stays the same, but elements of the wireframe are changed a bit.
Thus far, thereâs no precedent for them doing this and it remains very unlikely. More likely than not, theyâll just permanently kill the Forest Troll dream by giving us green-tinged lanky Darkspear.
The way I see it, the Amani Appearances could be Blizzardâs way of letting players be âForest Trollsâ without waiting for them to become a playable race on their own right and then to avoid having to pay for a race change when they do.
After all if people pay to race change to a Forest Troll Blizzard wins by getting money. If people level new Forest Trolls, Blizzard wins by having people playing the game.
So Blizzardâs reuse of playable race rigging and their desire to win, work to our benefit.
Look, I certainly hope so, but it does feel a bit like weâre holding out for High Elves at this point. Absolutely deflating is the only way I can describe yesterdayâs news.
At least, it seems Revantusk arenât forgotten:
âCrendorâs exploration video showed an AtalâAman Delve, confirmation of a Revantusk area cuz the Flight Path is named Torntusk Overlook (which is the name of the Revantusk leaders)â
Iâm not sure on that.
Both Blood and Void Elves can have the blue eye High Elf look and RP as High Elves. Where as, from my understanding of things, the Darkspear will unlock green skin and then not match the Forest Troll look.
I would honestly feel like Iâm playing as a Forest Trolls still growing or as a runt if that was how we ultimately received Horde Forest Trolls.
Oh no it would be a ridiculous half measure and totally unsatisfying; however, it is worth pointing out that, while not EXACTLY comparable, Void Elves got High Elven skin, eye and hair colors but are otherwise stuck with Void Elf Hairstyles and jewelry, thus making it clear what youâre supposed to be.
I wouldnât be surprised if they just escalated here to slap us in the face.
I wonder who will be present. Elder Torntusk, Primal Torntusk, both, or a new character, like their kid.
In thinking more of Torntusk Overlook, I wonder if we could receive any updates on Revantusk Village and/or JinthaâAlor.
I figure if Elder and/or Primal Torntusk are present, they could let us whose watching over the places in their absence.
Maybe we will get a sub reputation in ZulâAman for the Revantusk tribe like the one we should have gotten in the game?
Thing is, Revantusk did use to have rep you could earn⌠then they removed it. I managed to grind to Revered before they did though.
Green skin will be a part of the customizations for Trolls based on the datamining. We will have 4 different skin colors for them in these customizations.
Amani fans, I come bearing bad news. The new Forest Troll models were finally datamined, and their m2 files are not character m2s. This means their models are not compatible with player armor and were never designed to be used as a playable race.
do you have a link to the info? any news on hairs or body sliders?
While the current models may not be compatible with armor, they could always be upgraded to playable status as the Nightborne were.
Though Iâm curious does anyone know if any of the allied races were set with character m2s prior to being playable?
Like I know the Vulpera had alot of customizations prior to being announced but I donât know if they were character m2s with armor and stuff.
While it is true that Zandalari and Nightborne didnât have character m2 files when they were first introduced, I wouldnât say that this invalidates my previous statements. These two races were given entirely new models when they were intended to be made playable, and their original models still lack character m2 files to this day. Giving them updated models made sense, as the gameâs graphical quality had increased since they were originally introduced. I donât believe that Amani will follow this similar pattern, though, given that they are already at a higher level of model fidelity than pretty much any playable race in the game.
4 new green skin colors for the darkspear trolls.
This is another reason why I donât think weâll get playable forest trolls. 4 new skin variations for Darkspear, as well as a unique hairstyle, and 4 unique hair colors for both genders. This all screams Blizzard trying to give us the bare minimum in the hope that it will appease us.
If that is the case, than I question as to why the Forest Troll model received such a glow up.
Like we got new Ethereal models in The War Within but it wasnât anything drastic. Where as their is a notable difference between the female Forest Troll model we currently have and the one coming in Midnight.
I really hope not.
