Omg no! Amani should not be on the Alliance!
When has this EVER been the case. Come on now.
It happened with worgen, but the changes there were overwhelmingly unpopular.
I agree, and itâs probably just Talonel doing what he always has. Incite irritation.
Hrm. Guess I donât just speak for myself after all.
MrGM had an interview with Blizzard staff (Paul Kubit and Jade Martin) and asked about the Amani becoming playable. In response, Kubit said they didnât want to close doors on future opportunities and then talked about how the Darkspear would unlock new cosmetics, like hair styles, when the ZulâAman storyline was completed.
I couldnât help but notice it wasnât a hard no that the Ethereals had received. At the same time the switch to hair styles and the Darkspear, came off as him changing the subject to me.
Yeah.
Really feels like internally Blizzard is still arguing over adding Forest Trolls as an AR or just customizations and right now what theyâre doing is opening up some of the things that really could just be shared regardless to Darkspear to hold people over.
I do wonder if skin tones will come with that? There are some thin forest trolls and they already have the tones in the files, so they could just add them without a lore explanation.
It really does feel like that. It does seem weird though where they draw the line when it comes to an Allied Race and customizations⌠At the end of the day though iâd rather have at least some Forest Troll assets including skin color for Darkspears than nothing at all. This gives me hope for Void Elves getting something similar.
The question that comes to mind is at this point with new Forest Troll models, would it make sense and be accepted by players to just make Forest Trolls a Customization Race for Darkspear Trolls?
I always thought turning the Darkspear Troll race slot into a Magâhar Orc situation with different Troll Tribes would be neat to see, but Forest Trolls in particular to me were different enough and fairly iconic to potentially be their own race. They were often seen as a bit more bulky than Darkspear Trolls.
And with the new Forest Troll models, I have to wonder if just seeing green Darkspear Trolls with Amani haircuts would fit in the context of gameplay and if people would accept it or not. Itâd be different if this was something like the Ice Trolls as a Customization Race, since weâve mostly just seen them as blue Trolls for the most part instead of seeing an upgraded model for them at some point.
I feel like this is a discussion worth having to submit feedback and itâs really hard to know what could realistically happen. Moreso when we wonât know what The Last Titan will involve for quite some time.

I canât speak for everyone, but I personally always hoped that Forest Trolls would be a playable race on their own right. The fact the male model was more bulkier than the Darkspear gave me hope in that regard. Though I know others expressed that they would be content or just wanted them as customization options for the Darkspear.
Now I think Blizzard updating both the male and female Forest Troll models for Midnight and then just having Forest Trolls as a customization option would be baffling. The fact it looks they used the model rigging that would making them playable easier would add to it and could generate negative feedback.
Maybe. It could also be a Vulpera situation where they deny something thatâs apart of their plan before its time to officially announce it.
Though it also might be a matter of Blizzard not wanting to spoil the Alliance race before the story or something.
Sure it would. They are called âTrollâ by the game file. You drop that, give Amani / Darkspear option (similar to posture for Orcs), and then roll a simple choice in starting location depending on the choice, and a ship between the two areas if players change their mind. Same could be done with Draenei / Broken as a counter for Alliance.
Easy enough to balance the factions then.
Forest Trolls deserve a separate Allied Race slot more than Magâhar Orcs, or even Dark Iron Dwarves.
Theyâre too physiologically different from Darkspear. Theyâve been consistently shown as such since BC.
BC made them bulkier. MOP worked in the âTroll Compendiumâ Lore about moss growth. Midnight shows them with different noses, ears, etc.
This isnât really analagous to Wildhammer or Dark Ranger customization options.
I agree completely, but we both know inconsistency is a watchword where it deals with this game. I just want Amani. So do many others. I donât care about the how. I just want to see it done so I can faction change my Draenei Shaman.
How Blizzard rationalizes it, I donât care. I just want to see it done. So do many others.
I want to see Amani too, but Darkspear with green skin will definitionally not be Amani. Even with increased bulkiness, as theyâve been shown in MoP & Midnight, weâre still losing out on a whole host of customization options.
It would be a real shame if desperation results in another half-measure, because once that happens weâre stuck with it permanently.
Thats what always drives me nuts with some of these decisions. Someone internally decides⌠âMaximum Effort!â and we the players are stuck going. âThis is ok⌠but it could of been so, so, so much better.â Then rest of the team gets lumped in with that one bad decision maker. Not fair to them.
No they will be Gurubashi. I donât want half-efforts and measures. I want this game to grind FFXIV into dust like I damn well know that it could. Easily at that, if the company âonlyâ took it all the way, and did not compromise or do such half-efforts.
i mean should the sand trolls be a separate allied race now too?
Why would they be? Unlike Forest Trolls, theyâre not physiologically different from Darkspear and complete customization can be achieved through separate skin colors.
Also, this entire argument falls a little flat when we have Magâhar Orcs as an entirely separate race.
Yes
I desperately want to be a Farraki.
But Iâm heavily biased, as Trolls are best race.
I would have preferred Forest Trolls over Haranir any day.
Its never happened again since though, it could have lead to a change behind the scenes.
They are actually physiologically different, they are adapted to the harsh deserts and their blood coagulats super fast to the point you could physically hold a lob of blood in your hand.
They are kinda like camel trolls in a way.
They also serve different loa and are shunned by Bwonsamdi for their necromancy practices.
