Forcing OS>MS

This seems weird, i currently main a blood DK. A couple of items have dropped in the raid over the last couple of weeks such as sikrans aresnal, silken advisors favor, and wings of shattered sorrow. Ive rolled need on all of these items and it has completely voided my roll as “off spec” and allows mages, hunters, etc to just need on them, i reference wowhead for guides on gear but it seems irrelevant when you cant even roll need on the items. Any idea what this is a result of? I dont use crazy addons. Just DBM, dominos, and raidio.

You main BDK, yet have you checked to make sure you are Blood loot spec? if so, the arsenal might actually be DPS main spec, the favor should actually be a universal MS roll, and the cloak? well, that should be either universal or tank MS priority

I have my loot set to Auto. So it shows blood DK. Maybe manually setting it may help.

Yeha, I just checked loot via DJ, the trink only shows up as a ret spec, cloak show up as an all, as does the neck.

Good to know, what was the source you used to search that info up? Think im unfamiliar with “dj”

The cloak is honestly worse on tanks than anyone else. It might say defensive stats on it but the way it procs off damage events means regular melee swings from mobs are going to proc it at inopportune times without it ever getting value.

It’s much better on dps / healers for mechanics such as Avanoxx’s shriek and gossamer burst which are 3-4 large hits in quick succession. Procs off the first, reduces the next 2-3.

Thing is, all tanks currently have it as their BiS cloak in the WoWhead. This is why I said it should be universal or tank MS priority.

With tanks, they are likely looking at it more from the angle of get smashed, be easier to heal up with the increased healing.

With DPS/healers, it is likely meant to help with the large AoE damage moments like you pointed out.

Everyone does almost, the effect is very strong and cloaks are incredibly low budget items a player can easily afford to have sub optimal stats on.

Sure but how often is that ever actually the limiting factor in what you’re doing?

Seldom, but how many of these lists/suggestions/etc are also taken from the PoV of “better to be covered in case the fan turns brown” ? If a tank is losing 25% health in one blow, shance is are high one of 3 things happened:

  1. he did not pop a CD/was out of CDs
  2. he, or someone else, messed up a mechanic/missed an interrupt/etc
  3. could be ties with 2, but it is more M+ then raid, someone messed up the Xal affix

True, I guess it matters little regardless outside of a progress raiding environment. However in that environment it is significantly more likely to be relevant for a dps or healer.
