Forced to raid

I am very unhappy with the fact that I must do dungeons and raids to continue doing storyline quests. I don’t want to do dungeons and especially raids, ever since it became necessary to read a novel for every boss in a raid particularly. Please stop gating story behind dungeon and raid content. I play this game for the story. I used to enjoy raids. I don’t anymore. I don’t appreciate being forced to do them to continue advancing the story at my pace

Wowhead offers all the story and quest text you want at whatever pace you want and you don’t have to leave your safety bubble to see it :slightly_smiling_face:

Dungeons and raids are the meat and potatoes of this game.

This is not true for LFR at all. You don’t need to read anything.

The raid is part of the story.

So you’re mad you have to play the game? Imagine if I said. I wanna see the ending of this game, but I don’t want to complete the story…

It totally is what you said. Don’t back pedal because you realize how asinine that was.

That’s not what I said. I dont mind doing story quests. I said I shouldn’t have to do raid content to progress the story

I think he meant reading a novel as in reading the guides.

Yeah, but it’s really not as bad as you think.

Hey gise…can we not roast the obvious new player here?

I for one would personally like to see this game last s few more years…k?

This game has always told its story through dungeons and raids.

The thing that really pisses me off is that apparently, the Alliance doesn’t have to raid to continue their war campaign story. Only the Horde has to defeat Jaina in order to get the new 8.1.5 quests. I opened a ticket with Blizz about this to double check, but I’ve heard from multiple sources that the Alliance doesn’t have to complete Battle of Dazar’alor in order to continue the war campaign.

That’s absolutely ridiculous. I guess either A) they expect the alliance to be unable to actually raid lol, the soft bigotry of low expectations, B) it’s an oversight/incompetency issue or C) it’s just straight up bias.

I don’t mind having to do dungeons in order to progress the story, and being forced to raid only kiiiiiiind of bothers me. But being forced to raid as a Horde player while the Alliance gets to skate by, because, what? It’s pwobabwy too hard for them uwu? Because they need to give all their free ilvl 400 gear a rest? Why? What’s the excuse here?

No, that’s not correct.

Can you elaborate? Because I have multiple sources on this.

Remove LFR and dont put story in Raid, bam! OP problem solved and he can continue afking in Warfront.

We had to defeat Rastakhan. It came earlier in the raid but it nevertheless existed.

Alliance have to kill Rastakan, Horde have to kill Jaina to complete the story. Both require a raid boss to complete them.

I’d post a screen shot of my ally toon, but it requires a lot of effort I’m not willing to put forward right now.

To continue the war campaign? Because that’s definitely not what people have been saying. I know you have to defeat him to complete that raid quest, but did you have to complete that quest in order to gain access to the new 8.1.5 war campaign quests? If you already completed that quest weeks ago your answer here is useless.

Here’s one person saying that she didn’t have to complete the raid quest on her ally toon in order to receive the new 8.1.5 quests. I have multiple people on wowhead also saying the same thing.
