In the past you were forced to participate in the latest expansion at some level. I’m doing a playthrough with one of my kids and I’d like to complete the story (Wrath) before we get booted into the Dragon Isles. Just wondering when we should turn XP gains off to prevent that from happening.
*edit - Posted the answer to my own question below. It was mentioned that you still might not be able to get back in to Chromie Time after level 58, which doesn’t make much sense if you can’t start DF until 60. So leave your favorite expansion at your own risk.

I think you get locked out at fifty eight?

Lvl 61 will be the new max level tomorrow for chromie time. Stop at 60.

I only do lower level content now (pre-DF), and I pause my character experience in the mid-50s (56-58) to continue doing Chromie time and questing where I want. It gives me the most amount of talent points/abilities (and fast flying) to quest with without being booted out of Chromie time.

Players are still forced into Dragon Isles at 60.
They need to just send players directly to the Dragon Isles after Exiles Reach. At least until they hit max on one character. Then let players Chromie Time up to max level on Alts in their chosen expansion.

Can’t you just party sync? The xp will be negligible but you’re turning it off anyway

Not if all of them level up.

We both leveled at the same time. I wanna say there was one point where I was leveling in Outland and I dinged and basically had my ability to quest there turned off. The game shunted me to BFA or whatever it was at the time. Maybe my memory is bad. I just wanna avoid anything intrusive and dumb.
If all of you hit it same level, yes, you’re all gonna be kicked out. Now you can go back manually. But you can’t hit max level without dragon isle.

Alright. Sounds like I stop at 59 then. We’re just doing the story, then on to whatever story she wants to do next.
The intro quest appearing for you forces you into the content?
Chromie ends Chromie Time scaling and pulls Players into Stormwind/Orgrimmar.
Not after tomorrow. (which is what the post you were replying to was talking about)

BFA is being disabled as a must go to tomorrow.
You can always go back instead of locking your experience. Yeah, it’s annoying when the game boots you to the faction capital to play the “new and amazing” expansion, but there are portals to every expansion’s continent in those cities so it’s not hard to pop right back to where you were. If you’re still insistent though, then level 57 is the latest where you should lock your experience as I believe level 58 starts the Dragon Isles campaign.
Stop it at level 57. Just in case. Because it used to be, once you hit 58, if you left CT for any reason, you couldn’t get back in.
Can’t start Dragon Isles until 60. But 58 is when they won’t let you back into Chromie Time for unknown reasons.

You can still hop on a ship and go back to Northrend after you get booted out. It will no longer be scaled to your level, so the difficulty will be trivial. But the story is all still there to finish.
Being honest…this is how many do it in wrath classic now lol. Story can be run as geared 80’s basically having open world open pretty much to solo work. Some elites can still be a pita.
CTA (AV, usually) the 80 ding, gear up in alpha/beta/raid/pvp…and run the story for giggles (and rep). And to get paid.
It’s a nice way to see story (I’ve enjoyed doing it this way anyway) .
Its also more gold off quests (xp converted to gold since capped), and any item rewards straight to sales.
