Just had time to read through the tweets from Brian,

“But ABK is a problematic parent company. They put us under pressure to deliver both expansions early. It is deeply unjust to follow that by depriving employees who worked on them their fair share of profit. The ABK team should be ashamed of themselves.”

So sad, looks to be the same for DF and in my opinion way worse compared to Slands or BFA. I have never seen the game so buggy.

Idk about you guys, but this is actually refreshing news (at least for me).

For a while, it seemed like Blizzard gave up on WoW, and cared more for the “feelings” of the people that they pay.

You know what they say, if you don’t like your job, go get a new one, and that’s exactly what I hope this “Jason Cryeier” guy does, but in the meantime, here’s to hoping that one of the “feelings” people is gone, and they are going to replace him (or her) with someone way more competent, who will actually do their job that they are paid to do, and not be a slacker. Let this be a lesson to some of you under performers as well, this can happen to you at your job, too.

He is a journalist, he does not work at Blizzard.

This has nothing to do with feelings at all. This has to do with a corporate structure forcing managers to rate GOOD staff low simply because someone else was slightly better. As in, all are doing A level work, but they are forced to give some an F because the whole team is so awesome.

That is just as bad as forcing a teacher to give a failing student an A, just because they are the highest of a failing group.

Performance should be evaluated honestly. Period. And if a team is all doing outstanding, they should be evaluated as such. If a team is all doing terrible, they should be evaluated as such. No artificial ranking system.

This has nothing to do with feelings. It is about giving people honest credit for actual performance not false and misleading rankings.

Doesn’t matter, whoever left made a conscious decision as a grown up to leave.

He knew what it means to be unemployed, and still went that route.

No matter what you say, unless it comes out that he has some kind of inability to make decisions for himself, he isn’t getting sympathy from me.

It’s the entire industry, and anyone saying any different is selling something.

The whole video game industry, and in a broader sense almost all tech companies, were allowed to turn into a festering armpit of unwashed BO because no one ever came through to tell them to take a freaking shower, they were left to their own devices to build Lost Boys paradises.

“Diverse” hiring policies aren’t just some kind of “woke” initiative to make people feel bad about race and gender. The point of diverse hiring policies is to make sure that all of the perspectives in your company aren’t coming from one viewpoint. It’s like why you don’t inbreed dogs, because adding too many things that are too close, you start to get defects and problems. A mutt is usually a much healthier dog because of the variety in their makeup.

Insular companies made up of all the same types of employees who all have the same viewpoints end up making dumb, illogical, self-sabotaging choices.

You did not even know who left or what the issue with that kind of ranking system is so maybe you should take the rest of the night off?

The discussion is about the type of evaluation system recently adopted, not the individual.

Do you have any evidence of that? I am just curious.

It’s pretty clear that a few of the people in the discussion not only don’t understand what’s happening, they don’t even get what their point is supposed to be. I don’t know that there’s any point in trying to debate people who are just here for a mosh pit.

Evaluates Menhyt

You got a 93% (normally an A score) in your class but because other people scored ahead of you in your class you get an F (failure) on your transcript. Your GPA and scholarship opportunities are now impacted.

I guess you should have taken an easier class where you might have beat more people.

THAT is what is being talked about.

Same for giving an A to someone who scored poorly just because they scored higher than the other bad people.

Evaluations should be accurate and objective. Not apply misleading scales.

This is a practice some companies use, but it is really not in the best interest of the company or staff. ESP if they want to retain and grow staff.

No evaluation is accurate and objective.

Companies make evaluations all the time to elevate a select few, not all, employees of a certain level/type sporadically throughout the year.

This is a total non-issue. Managers are always given limits on who they can promote and how many, stop exaggerating.
