After completing Exiles Reach on a new character, I accepted a quest to go to Grommash Hold not realizing it was the start of the BFA xpac quest because there was no prompt beforehand or anything indicatingI would be locked into this. I was hoping to do Chromie Time and level in Pandaria but now I’m locked into BFA and can’t abandon the quest or select a different xpac through Chromie. Does ANYONE have any solution to this or am I just SOL?? (BTW I already have several level 50 tools, i just wanted to check out the Exiles Reach experience.)
Welcome to the “new player experience”. Anyone who doesn’t have a level 50 with the achievements for BFA story quests is apparently too stupid to choose where to go in Blizzard’s eyes.
You’ve been sent to The Maw. My condolences
I selected Legion for my Vulpera, and while in Org. saw a quest about extracting prisoners from Stormwind. It was a long long series which ended up in Zandalar and it looks like I can quest there now. Instead I went back and did the moving of Dalaran thing and so can do Legion questing, but I think I could go back to Zandalar and do BFA stuff also? Why two expansions at the same time?
Does anyone know which achievements specifically are needed to unlock Chromie’s options? I have a friend who’s stuck in the same situation.
So, to add, i made some allied race toons, and they have the chromie and other expac options. I made an undead, did the new beginner zone, and got guided/locked into BFA content after the beginner zone. I was still able to go over to the board and select legion, or i probably could have selected chromie also, but i cant select “abandon quest” in my log for the BFA stuff.
The options prompts you get on the allied races should be the same prompting you get on the older races. Hope this gets fixed soon, but there is a work around, just got to the message board outside of Grommash Hold.
For anyone who’s reading this thread for info, I found out the solution. You have to go into BfA just long enough to get the portal room unlocked in your BfA capital (Dazar’alor or Boralus). Once you’ve done that, you can take the portal back to Orgrimmar/Stormwind, visit Chromie there, and select a different expansion.
Good to know that works for ridding the quest log of the BFA quests, but if you dont mind the quest being stuck in your quest log, another solution is to go straight to chromie, or the message board outside of Grommash hold.
For some people, that isn’t working. My friend has multiple level 120 [50] characters, but when she created a new toon and leveled it up to 10 in Exile’s Reach and then went to Chromie, Chromie wasn’t offering her any options. She just said “You’ve got your hands full in Kul Tiras” until the character finished the BfA intro stuff.
I did it again, to see if i can counter or experience your mentioned situation. First, my toon says that im familiar with org (option under quest option when talking to first person in org upon arrival). Now i have no quests in my quest log, I can go straight to Chromie and select a time line, I can also got to bulletin board and select legion, or even chromie.
Also, if you continue with tutorial and explore org, then you will get ‘Mission statement’ quest. That is the first of the BFA chain, it seems. Also, that quest can be abandoned, the following quests leading to BFA seem to currently not be abandon-able.
So, for future new toons, either dont explore org, or abandon and do not complete ‘mission statement’ to not have to do the BFA start stuff.
