Who else has multiple characters of the same class(es)? And do you play different specs between them to keep things fresh, or do you just tend to create/ collect them for giggles?
I began Vanilla with a Nelf warrior, who, at lvl 16, I scrapped for a hunter. Over time, I’ve amassed 5 hunters, though only my Belf gets any of my time, at this point.
I went a bit gaga over the Druid class recently and created 3 more of them, bringing my total to 5–now reduced to four; only my Worgen is being played with any sincerity, but I hope to continue lvling the others (Nelf, Troll and Tauren). I likely will settle upon a different spec between them, with a slight overlap, since I don’t play Resto.

I have many Death Knights, but I’m a roleplayer and like that class, so there’s my excuse

I did the same class, different specs back when it was a pain to switch specs. Now I just make whatever class I enjoy. As a confirmed altoholic, this means I have lots of the same classes. In fact, I think DH is the only class I only have one of. Hunter and mage are probably my most common though.

No excuse required. Honest.
Ironically, I started with a Belf DK–currently lvl 76 (and parked for the time being)–but I’ve created a both a Nelf and Worgen, just in case.
This expansion, I’ve turned into an altoholic, as well. But I have both a Belf and Nelf DH at lvl 120. (I realize that it’s not difficult to lvl the DH class, but I now consider it my main, so I had to have one per faction. LOL)

When playing a different spec, I like to start a new character for that class from scratch. Especially with tanking and healing specs. It helps me ease into their skillset better.

I have multiples of all except DH, Priest and Mage. Most duplicates have different specs except my DK’s and Druids (Frost and Feral).

I have multiples of most classes, but I undoubtedly have the most hunters, mages, and druids.
Especially hunters.
I have a few paladins and I’m currently leveling another warrior.
Since my main is shaman I have a lot of other shaman so i can grind tmog faster
though at least 1 of most other classes as well
ALL OF THEM Horde and Alliance.

3 DHs, 3 DKs and 2 druids at 111+
They are on 3 different servers, so I don’t have duplicates of the same class on the same server. And I play same spec because I’m super casual and don’t care to keybind and learn multiple specs.
And then I’m slowly leveling allied races on Ally side for their armor. 2 warriors and 2 hunters. Again, on 4 different servers because I already have the full set of 12 classes on my main Alliance server.
I have at least two of each class, but I have one of each that I choose as a “main.” I’ll gear them up slowly and do random endgame stuff on them. This guy us my DK main.

Warlock warlock warlock… anytime I start on a new server/realm, I start with warlock. Good for gathering (pet runs interference) good for soloing survivability without having to stop to mend or recover mana. Free water breathing ability.
Often as goblin too for cheaper riding skill purchases.
I have two Warriors on my home server. The first was Worgen, because, well, Worgen. The second… is a longer story.
When MoP first came out, I was interested in the Monk class, like anyone else, and somewhat in the Pandaren, because new things to play through, and I noted idly that I had never done much of anything with Engineering, and while perusing the various classes open to Pandaren, I noted that they didn’t have Paladins or Death Knights, the only plate wearing class open to them was Warrior, and idly I noted that Transmog was a thing that had been released not that long ago-- I was having fun with that, and look-- Pandaren get double food buffs and a start on cooking? That’s a fairly neat racial. Well, perhaps I’ll take a look at this Monk thing, like everyone seems to be doing and-- wait.
It hit me like Doomhammer being accidentally dropped from a Cessna.
I could totally make a panda-girl in a steel bikini who flew around in a helicopter that she built herself while carrying a sword that was larger than she was, going from pond to pond to catch fish with which she could make superfood and get superpowers from so she can kill dragons with a sword larger than she was. While wearing a steel bikini.
I did not hesitate for a moment, and I now have two warriors in the same guild on the same server.
And a larger than normal collection of steel bikinis.

I have a ton of Paladins and Priests for some reason. Guess I really like the holy life.

I have my characters split into two servers, and as a result I have two of each tank (only one monk though) - one for alliance, which I used to play with my wife ( most of those are stuck at level 100), and one on horde, which I solo.
I also have two rogues, I always need to have a lockpicker. They’re good startup money if you’re rolling on a fresh server.
