In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I ask you, Emerald Dream: for what are you grateful today?
I have much to be grateful for, especially the privilege of space, time, and ability to reflect upon my life as I’m living it.
This year I’m humbled by the kindness and encouragement I’ve received from others. My year began in free-fall and without their vocalized support and belief in me over the last twelve months, I feel I’d be surviving today rather than thriving.
What about you, Emerald Dream?

The last few years were really crazy, no job, my wife diagnosed with a broken back, and really on the verge of losing our home and everything we have worked for. I am grateful to the incredible family, including the brother I call my twin, though we are from different parents and born 10 years apart, that always seemed to find a way to keep us on our feet until job, surgery, and stability happened. I look at my mischievous better half and know I am the lucky one to have her and now three children and three grandchildren to make my life complete. So I am grateful for her, and for all of you that make her smile and laugh every day. This is an incredibly enjoyable journey and thank you for being a part of the ride.

Congrats Acialga! Making the decision to become clean can be challenging. Staying clean is never easy as at first, but years will go by and the next thing you will know it will be 24 years of looking back at your life and you will realize how amazing it has been. I hope you know how much I appreciate the chance to know you and to work with you here, and on FB. Hugs to a person I call my friend.

My love, my life, my everything. You make me so mushy at times. I am thankful for you, the life we have together, for the friends we have in our life and online. I know I can seem like a tough cookie, the farmer girl from Iowa, but you seem to have softened me a bit. The back issues/surgery may have slowed me down a bit but inside is still your fierce warrior who would take the world on to protect that which I love. Yet I never forget to smell the flowers, hugs those that I love (even though I would rather clean a chicken coop than give a hug at times), and I always remember to say I love you.
Happy Thanksgiving my Dreamers!

Ah, such an involved question. I’d start with “I’m thankful you asked.”
No 2 ways about this year. It’s been one of the toughest and easily full of the most drastic and significant changes to have ever occurred in my life. With the help of others, I’ve rooted out a lot of the weeds and gunk that muddled up living happily, absorbed my time, diverted my attention and priorities, soured my attitude, and darkened my soul. Being trapped in your own bad habits and defending them as “OK” is a really rotten place to be.
So… I’m thankful that is taking place. I’m thankful my wife didn’t shoot me or leave me, or both; and that she’s on board with the fix. I’ve got reasonable health, solid friends, things to do that I like, a job that is fun, a roof, food, good kids, and a dog that thinks I’m a lot better than I really am.
Zigra,
gratitude and covetousness cannot exist in the same place at the same time.
