I can at least understand them excluding the “new” factions to make them seem more relevant, but man, it is such a bummer that it only goes as far back as Legion. I have so many old flavor factions that I would love to max out for certain characters. :frowning:

Eh, ‘Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth’, it seems like they really just want folks to unlock their Allied Races.

Hang on… didn’t they suggest that allied races would just be unlocked for everyone come Shadowlands or is my memory more whacked than half the cast of The Godfather?

That’s correct. However, there is a huge XP buff going on and now it’s going to pair with the Rep buff? Me thinks they’re trying to get returning players right now.

Also, ARs aren’t being unlocked, players will still need to do the storylines come SL. Only the reputation requirement is removed.

I doubt they’re trying to get returning players so much as they see an opportunity to look magnanimous and ease peoples’ memories of this terrible expac.

See I just assumed it was a low cost low effort to keep subs during the obvious drought period.

But none of these things are mutually exclusive either.

Yeah, the original announcement of the XP buff seemed pretty charitable given how it came right on the tail of everything catching on fire around us, but as it got closer and closer to the announced end of that event… it seemed like a bare minimum to keep this expansion alive for over half a year of 8.3

If they hadn’t extended it, I would’ve immediately unsubscribed. Not out of spite or frustration, but resignation that it would be pointless to waste my time leveling any new characters now rather than waiting for it to get so much easier with Shadowlands.

Well they don’t lose anything by leaving it up until SLs. They already confirmed that leveling will be the same as it is with the buff when we go into SLs anyways. So why not?

It’s an overall good move. It makes players happy and it acts as a good motivation factor for folks to rejoin.
