For those who have multiple max level toons of the same class, why?

There are three reasons I can think of.

1. They REALLY like the class.

2. They are in a Mythic raid guild and It’s easier to have different characters in different builds ready to go instead of having to switch one character around.

3. Farming. I have 5 Druids at max level myself, each with a different job and race to make their job easier.

i did roll a 2nd pal on the same server and faction so i could run a heal and tank and not have to deal with the weekly chest issue trying to main 2 specs

lastly, i have multiple because I will have 50 at 50 next week… and to do that you need multiple same class

Farming. Certain classes are better for farming certain items. For example, instead of having to wait out a timer (raids) it’s more convenient to have multiples of the best farming class.

Me personally… I dislike spec swapping… I create my characters with a particular class and spec in mind and it just never feels right to change them to me. So I don’t.

I have one character for every class and spec, each of different races…

I found Warriors to be the easiest/most fun for leveling. I level one when I want a set of Heritage armor.

I noticed that some people like to level the same class multiple times over on the same server, and while I’m not trying to knock it (you pay for the subscription. You do what makes you happy, queen), it is a strange concept to me. I’ve always been under the assumption that there really isn’t a need to have more than one of each class on one server, and this has especially been my perspective ever since we were able to freely swap between specs.

So why do you level multiple mages, warlocks, etc.? Do you just really like the class power fantasy of what you’re leveling, or are there other benefits to leveling the same class that I’m not seeing?

I have 4 warlocks, one for each spec on alliance side and a horde one. 4 hunters and 4 warriors, and 2 of every other class, one horde and one alliance. Why? Because I could.

I actually have another shaman that I first created before this one, but what happened was, back then you couldn’t change realms, so I had to create another shaman on a different realm, which of course became this one.

I eventually faction changed my first shaman to the alliance so I would have the shaman class on both sides. But I rarely play that shaman, I can’t get myself to delete it either because of how old it is.

So that’s pretty much my story. But I definitely wouldn’t have another max level shaman on the horde. I very much enjoy doing everything I can on one character. But to each their own.

I use all mine to farm stuff,etc. Now as for druid. I prefer to do things like restro/boomkin and feral/guardian druid. So That’s why I have at least 2 on horde. 1 on ally is just cause I dont have a druid on ally side. /shrugs/ It’s the toon I mainly use to max first and to use to work on the achievements that require you to do things on both horse and ally. And that said I have toons across ally and horde so of course i’ll have more than one of each class.

Same faction same server , only a few reasons i can see

• The class farms old raids really fast and you funnel the gold on one of them

• You play wow quite a lot and are racing them both to see who is luckier on drops ,etc

I enjoy deathknight for some reason and nothing else so why not make a ton of DKs but I use them to farm things or just play another race if I get bored and what not.

I have each class on each faction, but I play different dps specs on each one. If the class only has one dps spec I try differents talents and sometimes different off spec.

got real tired of switching specs, almost all of my characters are healers and if i feel like tanking or dpsing i have characters for that.

I normally don’t like leveling characters, but I am working on a druid and leveling in Chromie time in Draenor is FUN. I loved the quests there the first time I did it and it’s great being back there doing it again after all these years.

Fun is the main reason. Let’s face it some classes are worse than others.

I like my characters to be separated by spec, not just class. So I have one Arms Warrior and one Fury Warrior at cap level, and I’m leveling a Blood Death Knight right now despite already having an Unholy Death Knight (Tzesh).

It’s also nice to have another race to switch to if I don’t want to buy a race change.

I always say this is the LAST one but…

I have 2 reasons, the last 3 years and before.

Before, I just liked alts. I didn’t play as much as I do now and did a LOT more endgame but I always made time for alts. For instance day 1 of WoW made a dwarf paladin, a troll shaman and a night elf hunter (all WoW versions of my EQ characters). I started with the intention of leveling them all. I knew about raiding and such, but never thought a game would focus on something as obscure as that.

The last 3 years, my son came back to live with me after trying to live with his mom for a bit. He was in his 20s but has some issues. He is now listed as fully disabled. Parts of his disability are things have to be a certain way or he can’t handle them. In WoW, this means things like achievements - if he decides a character is “broken” for any reason, he can’t play that account again.

SO for the last 3 years, we have started new characters over together again and again, probably averaging 2 per month. I have deleted a lot but still have a lot left.

Since just before the pre-patch, Ileveled a new VE DK (themed on Lannett from Summoners War), got her to max level, through full benthic gear and was getting ready to go but we started over on a new server.

So I leveled NE DK on a new server and felt I wanted to tap into the Night Warrior theme and made her and a family guild around that with the idea of being Venythr as a DK out for vengeance against Sylvanas. She was actually higher geared than the VE DK and really was set for the expansion

So the pre-patch launched we started over. Decided to try a monk again (4th times a charm, right?) and we went from 1-50 in Exile’s Reac and BFA. We did EVERY quest. We killed EVERY Rare. We got EVERY chest. We got EVERY achievement (if its not done yet, we are working on it) and just getting into Naj and Mech.

With all the work put into this last set of characters, I hope this is it at least till the x-pac drops.
