For those who have multiple max level toons of the same class, why?

I noticed that some people like to level the same class multiple times over on the same server, and while I’m not trying to knock it (you pay for the subscription. You do what makes you happy, queen), it is a strange concept to me. I’ve always been under the assumption that there really isn’t a need to have more than one of each class on one server, and this has especially been my perspective ever since we were able to freely swap between specs.

So why do you level multiple mages, warlocks, etc.? Do you just really like the class power fantasy of what you’re leveling, or are there other benefits to leveling the same class that I’m not seeing?

I’m a roleplayer on a roleplay server and sometimes I get ideas for the same class/race.

i dont have more than 1 at max but I have a bunch of hunter alts. i guess i like the racial uniqueness. i love high elf rangers, night elf huntresses, and dwarf rifleman so ii had to make them all. hunters and other classes cover alot of archetypes that i like to rp as.

Depends what you use them for. I have 9 max lvl toons but only 3 or 4 of them will fall into the ‘could-be-main’ category. Others are for professions or farming or gold making. Wish all the others could be hunters :slight_smile:

Cause I like playing certain classes a lot . . . And with hunters I can go with different taming themes, like I just recently made a male vulpera survival hunter who’s pet theme is beasts that are very adaptable or survive in harsh environments.

Why not? I enjoy leveling more than I do end game.

Got tired of paying for race changes. While I have 1 of a class that I play more, I use the other when I feel like I I’m bored with the main one. I used to bounce races a lot so I’m saving myself money.

When choosing 4 toons to take into shadowlands for the covenants… I already picked 2 hunters (one horde, one alliance). Hmm… maybe I have time to lvl a 3rd…

So I had a pandaren shaman and I wanted a dranae shaman. Instead of paying for a race switch I just leveled another one. Also I wanted a horde character but I already had one of each on max level on aliance, so I made another priest.

I get nostalgic for the leveling experience and convince myself if I play another spec, it will be totally different. It’s not. But I a never learn. Human nature?

I have 2 max level hunters, but they’re different specs. I get sick of switching gear/talents/pets, and just said whatever, I will have 2 hunters so I can stop juggling.

Borrowed power systems when you like playing multiple class specs.

Corruption/Covenants/Whatever might be great for one spec, absolute trash for another.

I’d rather play another character than farm another set of gear or agonize over picking the most versatile option.

I have one main Warrior at lvl 50 and 13 Warriors of various level on the way.
I enjoy the Warrior class, but want to see it through the eyes and flavor of other races…

Also, leveling a new Warrior now makes me understand the changes Blizzard did to the class for Shadowlands.

The Warrior class is the next best thing, in World of Warcraft, after Sylvanas Windrunner!

Wanting the same class on a different realm , faction, or race was my only reason why. Nothing fancy.

enjoyment/ease of leveling, esp if u want heritage armors

I dont do it myself but one reason is likely due to the specs, some specs are considerably different than others, such has the Healer specs who usually need its own stats and such.

An example being Paladin with both Ret and Prot being Str and Holy being Int.

Also with the likes of Druid who has 4 specs

Some people like to level as a particular spec to learn a class and some may prefer it to carrying around off-spec gear.

Guilds get an achievement for race/class combos at max (I believe increased bank slots) - so maybe some are trying to unlock guild perks.

You can buy an instant-level by just buying a copy of the game or from the shop so not all of them are completely leveling this toon either.

Millions of things.
But with RAF especially if you have a wife/husband and you play together, 16 years of playing accumulates a lot of toons. I have 100+ max level toons and about 200 level 30 and up.
But i have been this way since Vanilla one of every toon both factions max level through every expansion.

Ill bet 75% of the players who play now don’t even know what granting levels look like in a major city and would report someone or think they where a GM for going from level 1-to max level right in front of the auction house.

I have 6 max warriors because it is my favorite class and I like the fantasy of warriors of different races. I will not pay for race transfer since anyways it is the class I enjoy leveling the most.

The other reason being I can farm transmogs multiple times a week.
