Just came out TD is getting tuned. This is also in line for the tournament realms coming out. This enraged me, but not because of TD. It’s because they are tuning the game for a freaking E Sport.
I’m sick of this E Sport coddling crap altering the game. Whether it’s for extreme balancing leading to everything feeling homogenized and boring (for arena e sport), the GCD change (arena e sport), or this nonsense. It’s ridiculous. What audience are you trying to cater to blizzard? Something tells me focusing on the rest of the player base will do you some good.
Wait, did I end up back on the BC forums somehow? Blizz, you’re ruining the game by catering to casuals and removing attunements! Nerf stunherald!
Oh wait, nvm, turns out I didn’t time travel. Welcome to a more than decade old complaint. Blizzard is gonna do what they’re gonna do, and they have been balancing around making the game an e-sport for a very long time now.
To be honestly, it was easily exploitable in some dungeon and raid encounters. Raiders and Min-Maxers commonly used it with a combination of powerful AoE abilities to one-shot adds.
I hate to break it to you, but Ion’s roots are in Raiding, speedrunning and number crunching for that sort of thing. Race for World First and all of the eSport style slash streaming for an audience type thing is going to be a huge focus for a while. I think the game has suffered for it and that while there is an audience for it, most people who play this game are not into doing things that way. Just a guess on that part, obviously. This whole expansion has focused so much on “systems” and not on “Battle for Azeroth,” and that’s why it is in the state it is in and that people have left in droves.
And only because of the rules they announced. If they had chosen to go with zero corruptions, or some other way that didn’t allow players to customize their corruptions, there would be no TD nerf.
But since leaving TD in its previous state and allowing players the freedom to choose any corruptions, would have likely resulted in everyone getting T3 TD on their gear before their runs, Blizzard needed to do something.
And because Blizzard likes to apply things to all their game instead of just MDI realms, everyone gets the balance tuning that’s specific to MDI rules.
