For the People! Open all classes to all races!

Now that the inter-faction war has calmed down a bit after we (did something with Sylvanas, Azshara and Nzoth) and (somebody else) is the new leader of the Horde, and we face (a new threat coming in the new expansion) It’s time for the various Classes of the People of Azeroth to once again step forward and take the lead in defeating this new threat (whatever it is).

Many were lost in the wars of the last few years, and we need new recruits to fill the ranks of all classes. It was for this reason that at the Great Conclave of Class Halls was convened and declared that all classes shall now be opened to be learned by all the races of Azeroth!

With the level squish coming, now is the perfect time to rework the leveling experience completely. Make the starting experience for each class not race based any longer, but make it class based. Make the 1-5 (1-10?) start experience focused around the class halls. Let the 1- (end of BfA) leveling experience happen in the Legion and BfA zones (if the players want to*) and then the (end of BfA – new level cap) leveling happen in the new expansion zones.

People have been dreaming of Tauren Rogues, Draeni Warlocks, Orc Priests and Gnome Druids for forever. Wouldn’t a Highmountain or Light Forged Demon Hunter be amazing?

This idea, never before seen race and class combinations, bringing back the beloved class halls, and making them a centerpiece of the leveling experience, along with some new allied races and Artifacts 2.0, could be the backbone of a great next expansion.

*Look, we have Classic now, so if you are pining for the old world experience, go play that. Compared to the more modern zones, the questing there is, well, antiquated is the nicest word I can come up with. Besides, starting a new Allied Race toon and then going back and running content and story that is basically 14 years old (real time) and who knows how many years ago in game lore timeline is weird and jarring.

But hey, if you really want to level in those zones, go for it. Leave them accessible and scaled so you can play them at any level. Set it up so that if you do all the quests in any 2 expansions, OR all the content in the old world zones, That is enough to get you to the start of the new expansion.

There was a private server that did this.

It was horrendously unbalanced. Class/race combos exist for a reason. Not just lore, but also game balancing.

Think about the racials and class passives of currently not possible class/race combos and you’ll understand why this is a bad idea.

Think about how this would come at the start of a new expansion already filled with major changes. Those issues could be addressed.

But for conversation, What is one particular racial trait class combo that you think would be problematic?

As i said before in another thread “since the Forsaken can be monks class-race restrictions for lore reasons went for the toilet”. Also i always wanted Draeneis Druids and Rogues.

An example please?

You could have some pretty sick forms, indeed.

Would you want bear form to be like a stitches kinda thing or a skeleton bear?

One hundred percent skeleton bear. There is no other option. And i want my travel form to be one of those dark hounds and my flight form to be a stymph

Part of me believes Tauren Warlock, Tauren Mage, Tauren Rogue would throw pvp out the window.

On a less serious note, Gnome Demon Hunters do not need to be a thing.

You forgot to quote the garbage part, garbage man.

That is an issue, but I can say that of all the departments in the Blizz organization, the art department is the one that, IMO has never really let us down.

The amount of stun GCDs, namely.

Also, looking at face value, Orc Paladin seems OP. Stun resist, plus massive bubbles, and berserker, you’d be fighting an invincible, stun-resistant, increased damage behemoth.

If you didn’t (couldn’t?) read it, you don’t get to have an opinion about it.

Racial starting zones are important for the cultural background of our characters. I would like to see Class Halls again at some point, but I don’t really want the core leveling experience gutted and crammed into only two expansions worth of zones.
Race/Class restrictions are important for properly representing what the race is actually likely to have. A culture with no history of druidism would make just casually seeing multiple of them in town really odd. Orc Mages are rare, but there is enough (trained by Forsaken, I think?) to not make it out of place to see them with you in a dungeon.

Pretty sure the most broken PvP combos would be undead Druid or even Orc Druid since they’re susceptible in stuns.

Can’t think of anything else
