For the people asking for max ilvl gear without having to do challenging content

Okay? So you cant have both… Such a passive aggressive statement. How are they mutually exclusive, i know plenty of people who provide for themselves and enjoy the progression system… Doing challenging stuff in your hobby and having a nice system to reward is not a bad thing.

Uh yea it does. LOL. The biggest contributing factor into the “Value” gear is how many others have it. If everyone had max level gear regardless of effort/time then it would have no value.

val·ue
noun

  1. the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something.
  2. a person’s principles or standards of behavior; one’s judgment of what is important in life.

verb

  1. estimate the monetary worth of (something).
  2. consider (someone or something) to be important or beneficial; have a high opinion of.

When the gear is handed out like candy my opinion of the gear drops thereofre its value drops for me. Its a fairly simple concept.

If people are still subbed now after millions have quit there is not much more that can be damaged.

(Collect 10 basilisk poops + kill 15 birds + escort mankirk for 5 minutes) x 50 is still never going to be equivalent effort to difficult group content.

While I don’t really see a need for it myself, it would at least make some sense for there to be a difficult Solo path with higher rewards, but doing simple chores for an hour a day should never give rewards that go beyond LFR/M0, regardless of how many times you do them.

2 ways to help casual get mythic gear.

Remove Mythic raid lockout, easy solution, make it like Heroic/Normal lockout so Pugs can join different groups.

Second, add a special mythic event in the world with a chance at mythic reward, like a rare spawn that is up only for a limited time, a group of patroling mythic elite catching you offguard, so you have to call a few people to help you kill them, and you could get a mythic piece of gear(RNG).

If you think we want mythic gear level without work you’re wrong. If thats whats blocking, scale the open world and have some Mythic level zone out in the world lock them behind quests and make it really hard.

But-but-but my entitlement! It’s MY gear and I want it NOW!

It has always been the cycle that we get gear. New raid comes out. We replace gear. Yes, that has always been the cycle. That is the definition of WoW. Them releasing content quicker does not change the fact that we all gear up knowing more content will come out eventually which will replace our gear. That is the most basic form of gaming.

All this is already in place, with World bosses and emissaries, and should always rewarded LFR-M0 gear. As a stepping stone into Normal raiding into m+ 5 into Heroic into Mythic… so simple dont mess with it.

I’m saying double it. Triple it. Make bigger zones, more open world stuff. 200 player world raid.

Can I just buy the gear. Like in a store. That’d feel pretty rewarding.

Yea maybe that might be the solution. Idk, recently we had servers being able to handle it so thats nice.

I just got done asking him. He just told me that you are half right.

In the old days, progression was slower. You geared up players from old content to help you do the new content. Now new content comes out and old content is not needed.

Also he says with everyone using group finder to raid, raiding is not even that big of a deal anymore with how many players call themselves “raiders” without being in a raiding guild. Gear is a joke.

I had in mind a 5 day zone’s worth of quests for one high level gear piece. Not difficult in terms of playing skill but more difficult in terms of mustering the patience.

I do not agree with the current ratio. However THERE NEEDS TO BE A RATIO.

The gear level determines the ease of content over time. People only doing questing deserve that ease just as much as the people only doing raiding.
Despite a few stragglers people who gear thru questing usually don’t go into mythic plus and think they can defeat it. That takes a very specific personality type that is a problem in their own right. Don’t punish questers cause these jerks exist.

Why does anyone need high ilvl gear? Why do you need high ilvl gear to complete challenging content? Doesn’t that just diminish the challenge?

People play this game for various reasons, some like to feel like the champion the narrative tells us we are, high ilvl gear helps accomplish this in world content.

This game is neither Vanilla, nor Classic Wow. Retail should change with the times just like everything else. The question is whether or not a change makes the game better or worse.

Access to gear literally causes no issues. The real issue when it comes to gearing is the massive delta between gear as an expansion progresses.

Your reading comprehension is a massive disappointment. I just wasted my time writing a legit argument for someone how doesn’t bother to understand, or intentionally misunderstands my initial post.

You can, but it is the exception not the rule. Too few opportunities in life (regardless of the person’s starting point) allow for the ability to enjoy what you do while being able to live off it.

And if the option were provided to have things set to an adequate degree (just enough) I guarantee you that a very large majority of people would quit whatever it is they had to do to survive just so they could take the easy path.

Then the question comes about whether not those people that took the easy path would remain on it. Some may see and reflect later on that they have been wallowing in complacency and have actually regressed in their progression/life goals, others may not. And as for those that did not take the easy path did they do so because virtue? Or because they had enough foresight/intuition to know that they would/could end up picturing themselves in an existential hell had they taken the easy way.

If you needed to, yes. You’d do older raids first to get people up to snuff, but that was largely made obsolete with BC and Wrath bringing in badge vendors. Which released with various tiers. When Sunwell came out, badges were brought up to a new standard again. In Wrath, badge vendors came out with every single new season of PvP and raiding, which really solidified that yes - gear is easily replaceable.

If he’s saying that, then he’s content with being in the pug world. I am not. It does not mean that people who are pugging are incapable, but we shouldn’t also be developing around the pug world. People should have to network, make friends, find a guild and perform.

At the end of the day, the pattern is this: new expansion. Old expansion gear is replaced. Gear through world content, and dungeons. Gear through raids, PVP, and M+. That is the pattern currently. When you have hit a point where you are borderline mythic geared through things like 15s, 2100+ game play, and raiding, then you’re done for that season involving gear. Next season comes out, you do it again through raiding, M+ and arena, as there’s no reason to revert back to just world content.

Again - raiding and all of that isn’t the only discussion here. PvP at proper levels, and M+ at proper levels are all systems which should be included in “challenging content” which is what the OP is focusing on. Stop focusing on just raiding. You do not deserve top level gear simply for existing.

Yes. If your paying for it you should get it one way or another…

Plus, its not real in any way … so why does it matter…

It’s pretty easy to get that though. I have a fresh Druid who’s only done LFR and 1 darkshore and he’s like 94 ilevel, which is good enough to Solo the blue WQs.

You realize all of that is literally a time investment.
Given an infinite amount of time, anyone could do it.

But, mythic raiding has no relevance to the context of my initial post which was about the availability of high ilvl gear to casual players. The subject is high ilvl, not max ilvl.

Eh I think he is just hard headed. He does not like that everyone can raid. LFR was ok, but he really hates how group finder lets a huge part of the wow base do raiding content.

and ya…gear lost its value now. He says that mounts, and mogs have way more value than item levels. Times are changing with how easy everyone can get into the content.
