You wanted Vanilla back and you got Vanilla!
Play Retail and fly… otherwise, #nochanges! LOL…
You classic troglodytes need to decide whether you want convenience or adherence to artificial difficulty… you can’t have both.
This was actually done on purpose… the game in its original incarnation was new and the artists and developers were really proud of the world they created. A lot of us thought they forced you to appreciate their design and art by creating weird routes for the flight masters just so you could admire their work. There is no other logical reason for the weird flight paths.
On the Alliance side, I have noticed some weird things as well with flight paths. Two examples.
Burning Steppes. It is actually much cheaper to fly from IF to SW then to Redridge Mountains and truck it over than it is to fly from IF to Burning Steppes. Now that may seem like a bunch of BS, but there is Thelsamar.
If you take a flight path out of Thelsamar to anywhere but IF the cost is perhaps the most exorbitant charge than anything else. It doesn’t make any sense. What is the justification? Are the gryphons in Thelsamar so much better than any other gryphons in other towns? The price difference is even greater than taking a Delta flight over Spirit Airlines.
There are a few other things that do not make much sense about flight paths, but this is my two cents.
I’ve been trying to sort out the pricing scheme for alliance flights. Sometimes it makes more sense than others. I’ll have to check out the combos you mentioned to see if I can find any logic to it.
IF to Thelsamar and SW to Westfall are the same price (reputation discounts apply), I’m guessing because major city ->10-20 zone and the teen players have less money for flights. Redridge to SW is in the next tier up. Places like Theramore are expensive in and out since even though it’s a major hub it’s in a higher level zone. So it is cheaper to fly from Darkshore to the island on Feralas than from Theramore to Feralas, so if taking the boat from Menethil take note of that.
But then you have nelves paying 0c to flight back and forth from Rutheran to Darkshore even though there is a boat that is free for everyone. The next cheapest flight after that is IF to SW which is like 50ish copper.
Lillard,
You seem to be the “go go go” type. Here is another topic that you have created, which is to “modernize” WOW to suit you.
As seen by another post that you created, Classic doesn’t seem to be for you.
I want the flight paths left as is.
Inefficient flight paths are just one of the many game features that were implemented in Vanilla to burn up subscription time.
I think they’re charming. #nochangesoratleastnotthisone.
They burn up paid subscription time, which is a feature, not a bug.
All games are made for people to continue to play.
I don’t think, that inefficient flight paths, was intentional. I think the developers though that it was cool for low level characters to get a glimpse of the high level areas.
I actually like watching the “live” scenery as I fly.
Thread title is wrong. Should read “For the love of god, break the flight paths”
You think flight paths are bad? Try playing an RP character. I have to RP walk everywhere I go. If I’m in Org and I want to find a DM group, I have to RP walk all the way to Feralas. Don’t even get me started on raiding. Most raids are completed by the time I even get halfway up the continent in Eastern Kingdoms.
It’s ridiculous. Every place should have a straight line path leading to it that I can RP walk to on the ground.
They fixed it in Retail.
Nothing to fix. Working as intended.
All of your posts are just asking for more QoL stuff so that you can play retail with a lvl 60 cap.
Perhaps Classic isn’t the right game for you friend, stop trying to promote things that ruin it for the players who want it as it was.
You think they care about 3 minutes of game time? That’s like 0.0024 cents.
Um… why do you have to RP walk? Your RP character doesn’t have a mount?
Now multiply that by the number of flights per month, times the number of subscribers then add that number to all the other time sinks. It adds up.
Maybe as much as $100 per month profit? Nah… I am a huge fan of cynics, but you’re pushing the envelope into tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy theorist if you believe that the weird flight paths have anything to do with making more money. Or maybe you’re just bad a math… Jury is still out.
What are you planning on doing with that?
o.0
You’re the one whose math doesn’t add up.
