When wow first started we werw pigeonhold and there was a community that forced people to play class a certain way. Now a days with everyone being viable and the stain on the past gone here is how you can ensure the top tanking spot in your guild.
Demand the bindings over the warriors. Have the guild help you in creating Thunderfury. Let them know that the prot warrior can function without it but having thunderfury will gurantee you can hold threat forever on any boss.
Well if you are a healer yoy dont need it. Start working in your future raiding guild that bindings are a requirment and bis for a legit paladin tank. Get them use to the idea early on and it will become common. A prot warrior can tank everything without it. A prot pally will be situational if not. You can be mt with thunderfury all rhe way to naxx and prot war can off tank.
Ret pally should have prority on Sulfuras. Again work on your guild early. Dont make the same mistake as people did in classic.
Thats the old way of thinking. Now a days there were paths open but people couldnt tread then.
Holy need no asssitance to be in raid. So i dont advocate any specific gear for them. Ret and Prot are different. They missing things Arms and Prot warriors have. Those weakness can be overcome with Thunderfury and Sulfaras.
Get in on the ground floor of these raid group and reserve it. Change the narrative.
but you’ll still get killed by a string of critical strikes/crushing blows, one of which the prot warrior doesn’t have to worry about
and, less importantly, you won’t have a real taunt either
Even with TF, there are fights that a paladin can’t physically tank due to mechanics. For example, anything involving tank swapping. This doesn’t even include the fact that paladins are vastly inferior to warrior when it comes to damage mitigation.
It’s the correct way of thinking. And it can be proven with math.
Paladins can’t tank raids effectively in vanilla, period. It’s not an opinion. A guild that gives bindings to a paladin is foolish and will be gimping themselves pretty hard.
If you want thunderfury as a paladin then get in line. You’ll probably be waiting a while.
