For paladin pickers, anyone NOT learning / using lay on hands

this may seem like an absurd idea, but for anyone who’s playing a paladin, are any of you NOT gonna use lay on hands or learn in. reason being is because from how i see it, it is simply too costly to drain all your mana so that you can save someone.

now, of course, it does make a difference, what setting this would be in, because i would say in dungeons and raids, using lay on hands in may be more appropriate or in some emergency situations, absolutely necessary, however, for world pvp and BGs, as that is what i would like to mainly do, i feel like it can be too costly and negative.

also, i did factor in improved lay on hands 2/2, and although it’s nice to have that 2 minute buff of 30 percent increase of armor and 20 minute less cooldown, it just really isn’t worth it. people will then just focus you and you can’t really do anything for some time. i mean, i guess it can be nice if you’re relatively far enough from enemies AFTER using lay on hands on an ally in world pvp or BGs in which you can wait for mana regen from out of combat / not using spells or from BoW, but i just see it as not really practical overall.

so i should say in specific again, the emphasis and focus is on world pvp and BGs and the use of lay on hands, not in dungeons or raids, and for me, i see it more of a hassle / problematic, and as an alternative, i think it’s better to just stick on your allies with use of FoL / holy light, or holy shock heal instead, and use healing potions or other consumables for yourself, so that simultaneously, you can still heal allies in the process.

though, if i do decide to implement lay of hands in my rotation, i would probably only want to do so if i get improved lay on hands 2/2 as it makes it more valuable and less costly / less inefficient, it’s likely something i would also have to do if i had to respec my talents to go into a raid or dungeon, since i could wait for my mana to regen after using it in what would be an emergency situation.

honestly if i lay on hands i wake up with numb hands. it isn’t cool

LoH is great when you are oom and about to die in WPvP, especially if the opponent is also low
Edit: remember, it uses the remainder of your mana. If all that is is 1 mana, boom, super heal for no cost

Paladin picker here,

I intend to use Lay on Hands whenever it is appropriate. One of the main draws of the paladin is to be obnoxious, and LoH plays into that class fantasy for me. I also fully intend to use Divine Shield and Hearthstone liberally, and probably in battlegrounds too. So I get a deserter debuff. So what? At least I didn’t die alone at the Lumber Mill.

This is always the best time to do “it”!

ur first post was most wise fellow traveler

Health is more important than mana.

If you die you lose all your mana anyway…this is a really dumb thread.

Use it when tank is about to die, flag carrier about to die or you are about to die to mobs and you can escape. No other reason to use it. I am a noob and I willbe rolling paladin for the first time in vanilla, so I could basically be messing up your strategy. But I doubt it.

why not just jump off the cliff, use the shield to survive and go help blacksmith or farm…

does that mean that the 550 mana restored for lay on hands rank 3 only restores that mana to an ally, but if you use it on yourself, it only heals you but drains literally all your mana?

This is a good point. I wouldn’t even need to waste bubble, I could BoP down to the bottom. But if I were dying at the mine, then surely, bubble hearth is the only feasible solution.

Not entirely sure. I would imagine you would lose all remaining mana, and then gain the 550 back. But that depends on batching (When you get the mana return vs when the mana is expended).

For sure you should use LoH whenever you need to! In raids its awesome if I remember it can restore % of your mana too so once youre oom you can LoH and get mana back.

Just probably dont use it in a duel. Otherwise whenever you want - it just sits there if you never use it.

Its situational, its what seperates the men from the boys. Sorry thats not PC these days. Its what seperates the he/shes with the bigger he/shes

lol! ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀

Because being OOM is better than dying… I mean yes don;t take that awful ability alliance pallys on Herod, its totally awful, and I totally wont exploit that to kill you at all…

You would be crazy to skip LOH. Not only is it an emergency massive heal, but like another has said you can use it with 1 mana. 1 mana!

Again, you would be crazy not to learn the spell.

It is one of your last resorts as said above. Always carry mana potions for a little boost afterwards - Paladins can be very mana efficient so a little can go a long way.

I intend to both learn and use it. And I’ll decide when that’s appropriate and like any other action performed in game I will handle the consequences. Probably with mana pots as well as blessing judging and sealing wisdom.

Here’s a MT tip - front load your Imp. LoH before big hit bosses.
