For Archon, what about Divine Star?

So, I really don’t like Halo, it’s kind of a boring button to push, where Divine Star is more fun since I have to aim it and it has less than half the CD.

Archon only interacts with Halo in its current state, but what if it interacted with Divine Star too? How would we do that, you ask? You could bring back Cascade!

Make it so that when you hit allies with Divine Star, you cause them to shoot out a couple bolts as if you hit them with Cascade (these will not split further), then occasionally your Divine Star just straight up turns into Cascade, allowing you to cast it once.

This is not intended to replace the tree, it’s just allowing you to run Divine Star if you like it more than Halo. Halo can still be used as an option for this hero tree.

So:

First tier:

  • Hitting an ally with Divine Star spawns 2 bolts of Cascade that will not split, targeting the nearest most injured allies. (Up to some max number of bolts)

Second tier:

  • Left
    • Skip
  • Middle
    • Allies healed by Cascade bolts get healing increase
  • Right
    • Hitting 3 allies with Divine Star grants Surge of Light

Third tier:

  • Left
    • Instead of Halo slowing, Divine Star does.
  • Middle & Right
    • Skipped, not relevant

Fourth Tier:

  • Left

    • Healing increase to Divine Star & Cascade
      or
    • Hitting an ally with Divine Star extends Apotheosis and etc
  • Middle and Right skipped, not relevant

Last tier:

  • Every third cast of Divine Star is replaced with Cascade

(This is written from a Holy Priest perspective, do something similar for Shadow, but for damaging enemies with Divine Star / Cascade)

The problem with Divine Star is that it’s effectiveness is limited to positioning.
If you are in fights, either raids or M+ where people has to be spread then you are left with a useless spell and useless whole hero talent tree.

Whereas Halo is useful in pretty much all sort of situations.

I agree tho that Archon could still see some upgrades, it still feels lacking. Cascade is a cool start, something like procing cascade on some targets hit by Halo.
The spell Halo is nice, but the whole concept of Archon feels lacking

I think it would be more fitting to power up a Halo instead of it being tossed willy nilly.

Imagine we had Cascade back and you cast that and it does it’s bouncing thing and then instead of just ending, all the bounces comes back to you and combine and explode into a Halo.

Then they can add cool interactions for during the Cascade bit and other interactions when Halo is Cast.

Just something other than… Create more Halos in uncontrolled succession.

They really have no inspiration when it comes to Priest and sadly it’s shown every time it comes to new class features being added.

That’s why I like Divine Star more, it’s harder to use, requires a little thinking / planning. Halo is just fire and forget, and it’s boring.

The problem with Divine Star is the nerf bat hit it pretty hard so it doesn’t really do that much more than Halo. Damage wise on Holy it does far less than any other ability like Rhapsody Holy Nova and Holy Fire.

Disc basically never uses Halo or Divine Star.

It’s actually pretty sad that such a cool concept like a Holy caster has lame visuals and interactions…
You look at Warlock or mage and they get insane visuals and then you look at holy priest and…
