Imagine this blizzard gets DDOS and they auto log everyone out and forces hearths…. Instead of “we are handling it”
They don’t need to force hearth, just auto-logout the character in place. It already does this, albeit with a 30s timer or whatever instead of instantly. Then you have protection from dc but it’s harder to abuse.
They should just change the mechanics going forward where dc or alt-f4 = auto-logout. Most deaths in hardcore are one-shots or people trying to outplay something and midjudging the situation anyway.

True I was thinking mid boss fights long as when you log in your at start of instance
Sadly alt f4 will be abused from obvious wipes it would have to be like a emp button on the matrix by blizzard only

In cases where you’re under a boss you could still just wait the 15m or whatever for it to return you to the entrance, or unstuck.
Functionally there’s not much difference between this and using petris in terms of people using it to bail on bad situation, other than auto-logout gives you dc protection and makes ddos futile. It would give HC much better stability and longevity if players were generally sure they weren’t going to have their time wasted by malicious actors or random blizzard/comcast farts.
