FOMO and why Trading Post is bad for you the consumer

I get what I want out of playing the game. It’s not up to you to care what that is or how I get it. Keep your nanny-state garbage for EU players. They tend to love that stuff.

And? In 30 years, if you are looking back going “man, I really wish I would have had that one mount in World of Warcraft”, then I’d pity you

If you don’t have enough self discipline that you feel you’re missing out on life over a few pixels the problem doesn’t lie with Blizzard.

For now. They are one step away from selling the currency on the shop. Can almost guarantee this will happen eventually.

If this was Blizzard 10ish years ago, I’d be less pessimistic and more excited about cosmetics. But it’s not, and we exist in the monetization world we do now, so… yeah. Not thrilled about the direction this is going.

We don’t know how long things will be gone - could take years for an item to cycle back.

By limiting the amount of currency we can get now, they are setting up for further monetization. 99% sure there will eventually be an implementation of “purchase 500 extra coins for $XX!”

And I’m 99% sure the opposite. They wouldn’t limit it otherwise. They want the time-played metric.

I doubt it will take this long–but I can’t remember the last time anyone saw the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur in the BMAH. I can’t disagree with you as hard on this one.

If I can offer a suggestion OP, return to this post tomorrow, or in a week, and have another read through after time has passed and you are not in the moment.

You are visualizing negative outcomes where you are unsuccessful in controlling an impulse. You have the power to change this mindset. It would serve you better to find and develop a support system than wagging your finger at the players who have a greater capacity for restraint.

We were getting nothing before, now we’re getting something…something is always better than nothing. I don’t follow your logic at all.

They could do that now if that was their intent.

Blizz ten years ago still had the store. Now they are giving you a way to get things that were on the store through in game currency. If they intended for this to be real money transaction, they’d just put those items back on the store.

If you liked the game you would be happy because more subscriptions helps keep the game alive.
If you don’t like the game, what are you doing here?

But pyri, how will I sleep at night knowing there are games out there with $14,000usd worth of stuff that I will never own (because I’m not even playing it)?

What if I want to get into league of legends in 2035? Do you know how silly I will look if I don’t have the 2022 winter collection for my champion released in 2019?

I think the very fact that they’ve limited how much you can get in game suggests they’re planning for a way to get around that limit with real $$$.

Would be very happy to find that my pessimism doesn’t play out, of course. But things being as they are, with battle passes/mobile game paradigms infecting every video game… yeah. xD Not super optimistic.

You know, studies show that optimists outlive pessimists (on average). You might try harder to look more on the bright side. (And now that song from “Life of Brian” is playing in my head.)

For years, people have been crying for Blizzard to implement something that rewards long-term subs.

They finally do it, and now people are crying that they’re adding something that rewards long term subs. Lol, never change GD, never change.

Allow us peons to enjoy what little happiness we can get. Remember, BfA gave away free war supplies every hour on the hour so you could use for crafting, table games or purchases.

and yet… i somehow feel like you wouldn’t be impressed if people were stealing off you for “free stuff”

i’m not a multi million dollar company with multi lawsuits for s**uall misconduct

woah, did i insult you? take it easy

I asked you on showing me how they have monetized this particular feature in WoW, as in, the right now i’m speaking of?..

I was kind of hoping you would actually point that out to me in the link that i’ve shared, because i’m open to the idea that i’ve might’ve missed something here.

Sure, if you’re just sharing your concern, it’s a valid concern to have, especially with the same people who made Diablo immoral. But i yet to see the monetization happen here, especially since Diablo Immoral was just a F2P MTX mess from the start anyways. We all knew what were getting ourselves into.
