Suggestion: Expand Follower Dungeons Into True Warband Adventures
Right now, Follower Dungeons fill missing party slots with a set of five static NPCs. While this is useful for solo players, it doesn’t take full advantage of the Warband system and ends up feeling more like a placeholder than a real extension of our characters.
My suggestion:
Transform Follower Dungeons into a party creation system where players can build their group from two sources:
- Follower NPCs – Still available as default fill-ins, but chosen from a pool rather than being locked to five static characters.
- Warband Characters – The real centerpiece of the system. Players can select their own alts from their Warband roster to join the group.
Details of how this would work:
- When queueing, you open a party creation menu where you assign roles and select members.
- Your Warband characters join with their current spec, gear, and talents.
- You assign them tank, healer, or DPS roles based on their setup.
- As you run dungeons, these alts earn XP, loot drops, and reputation, just as if you were playing them directly.
This would finally make Warbands feel like a true band of adventurers, not just a collection of characters you can only play one at a time. It also solves the problem of alts feeling neglected by letting them progress passively while you play your main.
Why this would be great:
- Stronger fantasy immersion – you actually get to adventure with your own Warband.
- Alt progression feels rewarding and meaningful.
- Player agency – you can experiment with different comps, builds, and gear sets.
- Keeps Follower Dungeons relevant even for experienced players.
In short, instead of just “static NPCs that fill the group,” this system would make Follower Dungeons an extension of the Warband feature, where you bring your whole adventuring company with you.
