Follower Dungeons

Blizz!!! I am actually going to post something positive for a nice change! I just ran my first follower dungeon and I loved it! First, as DPS Q’s can be 30 minutes or longer sometimes. With the follower dungeon it was an insta-Q. There is the option to allow one of the NPCs to be the leader of the group and if you do this, then that NPC will lead the group through the dungeon which is a plus because the NPC knows the way around, which can’t necessarily be said about a PUG. The NPCs don’t care if you’re slow and they don’t run through the dungeon at lightning speed like a lot of PUGs do. The NPCs actually know how to play their class/spec and no one died, no one was under healed and the tank held aggro on all the mobs/bosses. The only thing missing was the chat, but not all PUGs chat so it wasn’t a big thing that was missing. On that same note, with the chat missing, the bullying was also missing so there were no negative comments about how “crappy” you are playing that you sometimes see in PUGs. These follower dungeons are a fantastic way to level that last little bit you need on an alt or to go into a dungeon where you have a quest to complete with no waiting time and no fuss. Fantastic job, Blizz. Hopefully H, M0 and M+ are in the works for a future patch!

I especially like these for profession “loot stuff” quests that you get from the group of crafter merchants next to the crafting order platform. Neltharus is particularly good for blacksmithing, engineering, and jewelcrafting. Killing Djaradin with NPC help, and excellent mob density, means I can complete that quest well before the first boss. And then I can just ditch the instance without hurting anyone’s feelings and reappear exactly where I was when I queued up, like right next to the quest turn-in.

Super easy, barely an inconvenience.

Is there a deserter penalty of 30 minutes when you leave before you finish on a follower dungeon? It would make sense there wouldn’t be and if there isn’t, there’s another good thing about them.

I haven’t seen one, but I don’t recall a time when I quit out of one follower dungeon and tried to queue for another immediately so I’m not sure.

Maybe for something like “speed-farming” the plans for the Alvin pet (off Forgemaster Gorek in Neltharus), that might be worth trying.

I just tried it and there is NO deserter penalty. I just read another post on WoWhead and these follower dungeons are also good if you want to try out another spec, like healing or tanking. I might try one of those and see what it’s like lol.

Can the alter of decay be used in Brackenhide ?
