Follower dungeons

Will it be better than say any other mmo with similar features?

I am talking about the 10.2.5 feature where you do dungeons with AI. But I am asking will it be better compared to any other mmo with similar features?

Can’t tell since i don’t know what other mmo games has the same type of AI . I had tried one dungeon so far and things went smoothly and i had fun something i haven’t had in a long time in a dungeon.

No, if anything equal. FFXIV has excellent NPC support in dungeons. Theres no better npcs then theirs.

Ask again when there has been actual time to test them.

As is, SWTOR and FFXIV are at the top of the hill.

FFXIV Has Duty Support (for every dungeon unlocked with the Main Story). But unlike the Follower Dungeon system in WoW, FFXIV’s Duty Support takes a long time to kill groups of monsters because the npcs in Duty Support only attack 1 monster at a time. Whereas in WoW, you can just blast things down easy peasy.

FFXIV also has a Squadron system, but I know not enough about that to talk about it.

You mean the normal 8 DF dungeons. The AI will only be available for those.

They should make them go afk evey few minutes, hit wrong buttons, butt pull things, yell at other AI for doing stupid things, jump off ledges. You know the standard group stuff they need to prepare for an authentic dungeon experience.

Oh yeah, drop group and hearth out.

So you’re saying screw over the player and keep on dying over and over again. How is that enjoyable?

That is basically saying you new players can leave WOW cause yall suck.

Just for the record, squadrons take a lot more work to set up and aren’t really a “first time” leveling thing, also are only supported up to level 60, but once set up its a lot faster and a lot more mindless than the duty support NPCs, to the point that it’s a good way to level up alt DPS jobs.

But more on topic… the thing about WoW dungeon NPCs, it’s only for Normal, isn’t it? Pretty sure I read that. That’s great for people who just want to get the quests done at their own pace without joining a group, but that’s going to be pretty much the only reason to use them. Even at launch, not even fresh max leveled characters used normal dungeons for gearing. Many don’t even use Heroic…

Guild Wars 1 had Henchmen and Heroes as NPC Party Members…

If you are dying to the same thing over and over again, you might want to look at what you are doing wrong instead of blaming others for your own mistakes.

The part I bolded is what worries me the most about WoW’s implementation, from what I’ve seen from PTR.

If WoW’s followers skip the queue, are as efficient as an average group of players, gives the same loot, and also accomodates parties of 2, 3 or 4, doesn’t this kill the regular LFG queue where you play with real people?

AFAIK the FFXIV devs deliberately made their bots very bad at the game and unable to accomodate more than one player so it does not cannibalize the regular queues, but it does not look to me that Blizzard are doing anything to keep the regular queue attractive.

Only done one so far on ptr (Neltharus) on my moonkin and it felt a lot quicker than duty support from ff14. Can tell the tank to lead the way or follow, and if leading they pull at a steady rate to cleave things down. Also handy if you forgot the dungeon layout like I did lol.

The resto druid and beastmaster AI jumped around constantly which added a nice touch of realism.

I disagree, swtor npc support is fantastic. Regardless, of wows is even slightly like this we are in for a treat!

Better? don’t know. Haven’t played other mmos.

Is it needed… yes…

Pugs already in leveling etc feel like NPC’s lol

At least the AI won’t whine about someone not playing optimally or w.e in a friggin leveling dungeon lmao

What do swrot npcs do better then ffxiv trust?

The Follower Dungeon system has a difficulty similar if not easier than normal dungeon difficulty while giving out Normal difficulty loot. However, Heroic is not an option for this system, and if they never implement Heroic or higher difficulty for Follower Dungeons, I don’t really see the problem.

The system overall is better. They have story, they can be used in all 3 roles effectively, they can join you in soloing a dungeon at a reasonable pace, they are customizable, etc…

Admittedly i dont know much about ffxivs system, but based on what ive seen in this thread it is very slow and intentionally acts poorly to pad time. Im sure theres some exaggeration there, but :dracthyr_shrug: i like swtors better.

Hopefullu i will like wows version.

Agreed.

Really? That’s hilarious. And kind of adorable, honestly. I gotta try this.

I’m kind of glad it’s faster than FF14’s Trust, it’s torturously slow. But it does what it needs to do: you do an NPC dungeon to listen to dialogue and maybe feel a bit more immersed in the story, then never touch it again because you’re still recovering from the soul-crushing boredom.

I’m hoping for a bit slower than player dungeons so it doesn’t make LFG obsolete though.
