I mean that is a valid reason, botter will 100% take advantage of follower dungeons to grind out gold given it would be an excellent source of that. Given my assumption would be that all gear that drops from the run would be automatically given to the player, and if the player can dictate the speed of the run too then it would be a very efficient method for bots to farm gold.
It’s not that simple is the thing, if it was then botters would have been an extinct species years ago. Their like squirrels, their presented with a problem and keep testing things until they come up with a solution that eventually works, and exploit that solution until its fixed and then they repeat the problem solving process again. Blizzard I feel has made some good strides with the token change they did, but I feel like botters probably responded by opening a ton of accounts before the change went live, given it only applies to new accounts. Just so they could keep botting until they run out of accounts and have to start paying for them with a CC.
Which some people are citing that they’ll probably start using stolen CC’s, I’m on the side of they won’t given the risk to reward ratio just not being there IMO. Unless you’re in a country that is very lax with their law enforcement practices and can make enough money to not only pay them off but keep buying stolen CC’s. Eventually it will become a net 0 situation hopefully to where its no longer profitable for them to bot the game.
Follower dungeons are just Normal difficulty 60-70, reduced XP to learn storyline, get a bit of practice and do the quests while leveling and doing the zone MSQs. As of right now, they’re just a story mode, so it’s not really a gearing method.
I don’t know much about the DotI trinkets or anything, as I haven’t fussed too much with it. I went in to learn the story and never went back. lol
It is a really good trinket for tanks, even more so to grab before starting M+. It is 100% a “I didn’t die” Because just before you would die it heals you for X amount based on ilvl and stage of the trinket? ( Adventurer/heroic/mythic) what ever those “words” in on each gear piece is called.
you weren’t going to do more than 10 follower dungeons in a day. it’s a non issue. That’s more than enough to test out a new role solo before a real dungeon.
It greatly impacts cpu overhead. they said the concern was that their hardware would choke and impact dungeons with all real players. It’s these kind of hints that let you know they throttle content due to hardware limitations.
On one hand, limiting it to 10 per day seems dumb and pointless, considering there’s already a 10 instance per hour cap if they’re worried about people or bots farming it. Is that not enough?
On the other hand I’m really struggling to see why anyone would want to do this more than 10 times a day. I’m sure there’s people who wouod want to, I just… don’t see why
BEFORE they nerfed the xp into the ground, the idea of using it to level was pretty solid. Now meh, might as well wait for TW weeks and just suffer with the rest of the zoom zoom right to the end players. As a tank I LOVE when dps want to go ZOOM ZOOM.
Server load for so many different types? That seems to be the assumption in some cases. Along with making sure they didn’t miss stuff that’s bugged, can be exploited, etc. If they slow it down a little, it’s easier to catch and fix without a flood.
I’m actually more surprised that someone at blizz actually thought “maybe we should limit our initial load.” They’re usually more of a break first, ask questions later crew.
