Follower dungeon XP watch

Oh thank god

Oh, yaaaaay!! That is truly wonderful. I’m so glad Blizzard responded!

If LFD dungeons would die because of this, what use were they anyway? Playing with others should be its own reward, games that make it mandatory just to play certain content technically concede it’s not worth playing with others unless forced.

WoW playerbase is not exactly capable to self-manage their play sessions.

“there’s nothing to do” screams some guy missing 25,000 achievement points.

I looked at them as a way to fully complete zones and not have dungeon quests stacked up in your log as you’re levelling. It will feel so much more satisfying for new players to be able to finish a storyline and not have to wait an age to get in to the dungeon. As a veteran player if you were expecting this as a new levelling tool… unlucky?

It’s purpose is to allow people to run dungeons without dealing with other people, an extremely popular request for years.

They were asking for that anyway as part of the general request.

Not engaging for folks who prefer real people to play with, but probably more engaging than the rest of the solo content.

I think the actual request, although not always stated this way, is end game loot without end game groups or commitment. This doesn’t accomplish that. Kind of reminds of all the twinks that would come in and say they just want to fight other twinks. They get that and twinking completely dies because they really wanted to corpse camp graveyards.

More engaging than Torghast, Horrific visions, or the Mage Tower? Do people play those for months without a long term power grind?

If this prepares and converts players to M+, great.

But think the core problem is the games design and expectations. M+ is a pretty substantial commitment to be successful at. You need to learn every pull of every dungeon. There’s not a lot of generic “M+” knowledge other than how to set your character up for AoE. It’s mostly dungeon specific. And then when you move up to a higher level you need to relearn it all over again because people run it differently and there’s more interrupts and defensive you need to know.

At any rate, we wont know if this has been successful for an expansion or two if they keep putting this in. Probably already being put into the 11 dungeons.

I think we’ve seen that from the people who asked for AI in m+ and raids, but a smaller volume than the more general AI dungeon requests.

Well I meant current solo content, but I’d personally say yes more engaging than torghast and MT, if only for the better variety. Visions had a power reward that seemed right on, and I think most folks wonder why they dropped that model, but delves seem to be back on that track.

I don’t think it’s intended for that as a lot of people who asked for it have no intention of doing anything they can’t queue for and no desire to play with people. (just going off what we’ve seen requested)

Did a few dungeons last night… XP was pretty good. Sounds like you get 80% if you go in solo with 4x AI players. Got a half dozen orbs from HoI, so that was nice. Seems a nice chunk of gold as well. Was getting 12-20g per pull pack.

I RPed a pacifist Death Knight many years ago, as a joke of sorts.
Did absolutely no quest where I had to kill anything or collect organ parts o anything of that ilk.
I leveled uniquely from mining and picking flowers.
I was surprised at just how much exp I could get from that. That character wasn’t that far behind my others who did kill kill pussycat kill kill quests.

they wont let you attack members of your team…even if they deserve it.
and that was pointing out what forced grouping would do to other parts of the game.

we need a nothing to do badge…

back in Wrath, during the Yogg Saron era, we called that achievement the [Alone in the Basement] Feat of Strength.

+1
Ive done 6 -7 levels farming nodes just to do something different when I made a new alt really quick after the last one. Pet battles used to be pretty good for experience too. Last time I tried it that, though, seems like they nerfed the XP so much that it was a joke to bother with.

All a MMO is, is a game with multiple people on at a time. It says nothing about having to play together. I prefer solo. If you ( generic you ) want to be social, go for it. It isn’t my reason for playing.
