I like raiding, especially with our all-druid guild on Stormrage and less so with pugs. I’ve raided at the higher levels of the game in past expansions and now care more about the journey with friends that the destination or difficulty. We play the game on our own terms, and that has made all the difference to me.
#NoDruidLeftBehind
The main reason I don’t Raid is because I don’t have the time. I love my guild and I’m hoping to make the time is shadowlands but the truth is that it’s hard to get people to stick around to develop a cohesive team.
I’m not part of a guild and no one invites me
What I like about raiding:
- It’s historically been one of the better-designed aspects of the game.
- Geeeeaaaaar!
- Hangin’ with guildies/friends
- Raids have usually been good additions to the storyline. This was exemplified during WotLK.
- It’s 98% of the group content I do (in an mmo…)
- It’s better than pvp!
What I don’t like about raids:
- Current mechanics seem to be heavily anti-melee (though this is nothing new…)
- Raids don’t necessarily drop bis gear anymore (because this game has turned into a D3 clone)
- More trash than a Huey Lewis music video. This has been a problem since vanilla in the majority of raids. Trash, good. Craptons of trash, less good.
- Bring back class sets! Also, the gear in this expansion is terrible! Worst gear, aesthetics-wise, in the history of the game. I’m even including the horrible rogue set ICC. Barf.
- My guild’s raid schedule conflicts with one of my D&D groups one saturday a month…
Playing on a schedule always ends up feeling like a job to me. Even though I’d like to see the content, whenever I join a guild I just end up dreading raid time. I much prefer m+ where the groups are smaller, and I can log on and do them whenever I want, not have to schedule it in.
Playing with people that make mistakes / aren’t very good at the game.
Why rely on a group of people to do something when you can do it yourself? It’s a gamble and your completion is based off of the competence of others.
herioc gear is garbage and mythic raid is too hard. Also Nyalotha sucks, did one herioc nzoth kill and that’s enough.
This. I can AFK out of battlegrounds if needed. Someone else will easily replace me. Not so much with raids. I’m OK with this. I need WoW to function as a single player game and parts of it does that fine.
Because i live in Hawaii and work as a chef. time zone closest to me is Oceanic servers but i am unable to play them because of major lag. thus im forced to play on PST servers which is 2-3 hours ahead of my time.
given i get off say at 7pm, drive home and what not i can play around 8pm which is 11pm PST time. by then im already screwed on finding a late night raiding guild which is scarce… i don’t want to be rushing home just to raid either and i dont always get off at 7pm sometimes i have to stay later due to residents eating last minute.
my days off i have things to do as well most importantly picking up my dads dog. not sure why he doesn’t pick up his dog. if he at least did that i would be able to raid on my days off but he doesn’t.
i hit about 200-300ms on oceanic servers but i can feel it. spells are slightly delayed, looting is delayed. looting isn’t an issue for me but the spell casting is.
i pretty much pug what i can but idk if you ever pugged content it’s utter hell. sometimes i’d get into AOTC groups and people dont even have aotc like half the group doesn’t. idc if they don’t have AOTC but their dps is pretty bad and they don’t know mechanics.
I just want the gear from mythic raiding but my guild is very casual and doesn’t do mythic but I’m too lazy to find one.
I can raid through lfg but I don’t want to pug. I get performance anxiety, or I did.
Now I don’t care enough to bother.
I want to raid but I just don’t have the time. Most guilds start raiding at 7.30 pm my time and I’m in bed at 8pm for an early start for work the next day. If I dont work I have a 5 year old I need to look after and she takes up my evenings then
I’ll run the occasional raid with friends on a alt night, I just don’t care for raiding as much as I used to when I was younger. I’m just not as invested in participating in the gear hamster wheel that is associated with raiding as much as I used to be.
I was raid lead for a core group doing the timed Zul’Aman runs until my entire group got the bear in TBC, Raid led Ulduar when It was current content and completed all the hard modes, raided with a server first guild for realm first Anub’arak as well as Heroic ICC with another guild so It’s not like I don’t have experience, It just doesn’t interest me as much as It used to.
I currently find more enjoyment collecting mounts and xmog and completing smaller scale challenging content like the Mage Tower and Challenge Modes when they were available. I’ve found that as I grow older I’m more attached to my character and the collections I’ve obtained that don’t get outdated with a patch. (appearances, pets, transmog) Yeah that’s like hyper casual content, but I can’t help It if i get more enjoyment out of it over raiding. That’s just how it is for me currently.
I want to raid but it’s no longer something i can do anymore; due to the pacing of Raiding and the hours that past guild communities have set; i basically slump over on my keyboard and drift asleep after a certain hour at night.
I struggled with Legion Raiding last expansion because of this.
I think i’d have to try and PuG Raids during the day if i really wanted to be serious about it, because i doubt any guild wants to do a Raid in the morning or afternoon, and i prefer to be in voice chat when raiding.
It’s hard to find a guild that raids only two nights a week at a time I can raid on my server that is competent enough to push meaningful content. I probably could but my days of raiding are over and I’m okay with it.
Not really a thing there are toxic guilds but as long as you are reasonably quick at learning to get out of fire there’s no reason you can’t raid casually
the only interesting thing about raiding is the tier set rewards that shiny armor. Raiding isn’t fun because the mechanics and classes aren’t fun. I dislike going for hours on one class doing this one raid just for what 0-3 upgrades? A mount that wont be as awesome as time goes on? On top of that i’m very quick and adaptable to mechanics, i find mechanics easy but their are just so many and so many players just struggle with mechanics and i find this inferiority frustrating its not hard at least its not hard below mythic raiding. The only reason mythic raiding is challenging because its overwhelming and a lot of humans in general just suck (including me) when it comes to dealing with things that are just overwhelming no matter what they may be. So on top of all these reasons raiding isn’t fun or challenging (below mythic)
Because I used to do top end raiding in other MMOs and my addictive personality made me one of those “hard-chargin’-no-eatin’-no-bathroom” raiders. I feel like I can’t belong to a guild without giving 200% and that eventually becomes very exhausting.
So while I know I would enjoy raiding I also remember being awake at 4am on the top layer of the Plane of Sky waiting for that last pull so I could finally sleep after raiding for 18 hours without a break.
Now I am allergic to responsibility and potter about doing things as I please.
What interests you about raiding? Why do you want to raid?
I like following WoW’s stories and raids are kind of the ultimate culmination of major plot points. I also do a lot of solo play, so the idea of having a bunch of people all working together is just really cool. Dungeons just don’t cut it in that regard, at least not in the same epic kind of way. I think there’s also a completionist side of me that wants to try everything.
And, of course, why don’t you currently raid despite your interest in raiding?
A few things that all kind of come back to anxiety. I suck at figuring out mechanics and get yelled at for it, and I don’t even really blame the people yelling, I just genuinely suck at picking up how things work. I’ll read and watch guides beforehand and it all seems to make sense until I’m actually playing. I also can’t talk, which makes it more difficult to really participate in Discord chats. So part of it is I am a little worried about not doing well because of the reaction I’ll get, but it’s also just that it’s not as fun for me when I keep dying or can’t keep up. Mechanics are a challenge, and they’re probably fun for some, but to me they just end up kind of frustrating.
Time-zone issues and honestly it’s kinda harder to get into wow compared to any other mmo lol…
