Fodder to the flame

I like the idea behind this ability, but I am having issues managing it. It just seems like a dps loss to click away from your target, throw a glaive and re-select the mob again. Despite that, it seems to be the recommended talent for both single target and AOE.

I was curious how other people are handling using this ability in a dungeon or raid encounter. I used to tab target it which works well as long as there are no ads, but as soon as there are, you tend to lose the demon in the crowd. I also tried to find a macro that would select, throw the glaive and reselect the current target but that doesn’t seem possible. You could probably do a mouse over glaive but then you’re stuck losing it in the crowd again.

You could just wait for it to close in and cleave it with your glaive. No sense going out of your way for it. Master of the Glaive helps

As VDH, I use elysian decree. On paper, it’s better but I just hate the rng and annoyance of it. Plus decree is good for snap aggro and insta soul burst healing.

As havoc, I just cleave it unless I really need it to blow up on a big pull and then it’s just a pita to target and kill.

This skill would be so much better if it would burst if you had Immo aura up. Kind of like the bomb guys in freehold on last boss.

You basically never want to target and Throw Glaive at the demon for the exact reason you mentioned. It’s always better to cleave it down which is pretty easy since Chaos Strike, Demon’s Bite and Shear/Fracture are about our only ability that isn’t cleave or AoE.

It’s free leech and free Pain from Volatile Flameblood procs if you’re Vengeance. The only time I ever intentionally target the demon are when I need that immediate heal or I’m using Dragonfire Bomb Dispenser in AoE, in which case you can toss a bomb onto the demon and then glaive it to immediately get the AoE damage from the Dispenser. In single target situations where you need to glaive it you don’t even have to target swap, just glaive your main target and the glaive will bounce off and kill the demon.
