Fodder to the Flame

Fodder to the Flame is hands down the worst designed talent every created. The hill the devs are dying on to defend this trash talent is something unheard of. Like get off your high horse and admit it is trash design and you guys made a mistake. Remove it and give Demon Hunters a cooldown like every other class has. Like FFS can you imagine if you had to play the casino and pray for your major DPS cooldown to spawn and then to kill it for a damage buff. Its like these Devs dont even play their own game.

They like the covenants abilities a lot and wanted to keep a lot of them because they put too much time on developing them and adding special vfx to them. Never really made sense as an ability, really wish they would have wrapped a lot more of them and buried them with SL but that’s what it is.

Some of them like the hunt for dh are cool to stay but generally i agree, most of them should have been removed.

why is Demon Hunter always getting shafted while other classes getting cool stuff.

If only that is true for abilities like Death’s Due and Deci Bolt.

Any ability that is a chance to do anything should be made into something that is either:

  1. A button to press,
  2. A flat X% boost
  3. A chance to do something, but make it so it procs every X to ensure you actually get something out of it

A flat chance to not work just means you can always be going without it ever proccing.

laughs in hpal’s entire spec being designed around casino rng in divine purpose/awakening/infusion crits chance and being encouraged by blizz to overheal to fish for procs

Let me put it in a context for you to understand. Imagine if your pally wings were RNG to cast and when it did, an angel 20 yards away would spawn and you would have to kill it and run up and grab the “holy orb” that is left from it to get the buff.

I would love to be able to play ED on my VDH main, it would massively help with aggro and quite a few other things. It would also solve the problem of having the demon pop right at the end of the pull but unfortunately the tuning is just so stupid that it doesn’t make sense. The irony is that blizz is wallpapering over the shadowlands connection in the next patch by changing the ability text to omit the theater of pain connection.

FWIW the theater of pain connection doesn’t make sense as demons wouldn’t end up there anyway because they always go back to the twisting nether. So not sure who thought that was a good idea.

Exactly, like lore wise it doesn’t even make sense. Its just not enjoyable, but these Devs are still insisting shoving it down our throats.

it has nothing on Rune of Power

I’ve picked up Elysian Decree.

I don’t care.

I hate that dumb demon with the rage of a thousand gods.

Both are just bad design, considering how these dungeons and raids are now.

i like it
but then i am the one who thought of it so i’m biased and you probably hate my guts if you believed me

Yeah this talent is probably the most unenjoyable skill we have. This alone will probably make me quit the game if changes arent’t made.

I agree, nerf DH!

I dislike all the covenant abilities that still have their original visuals.
They don’t suit most of the classes, and this kind of break of the aesthetic cohesion is just tacky.

Definitely immersion breaking.

What’s odd is that they did put resources into changing at least some of the abilities. Mindgames is no longer a swirling blood effect, but rather a basic shadow one. It’s sound was changed too, I’m pretty sure.

When it comes to certain things, the devs have a stubborn pride seemingly only matched by their egos and one of those things is class design. They have a vision for how classes should be and play thematically that doesn’t always line up with reality, popular opinion be damned.

Just off the top of my head, they took meta from demo locks even though it was popular, not many rogues liked roll the bones when it was introduced, enh shaman were all over the map, the aforementioned rune for mages, PI causing lots of drama, and last but certainly not least turning my beloved surv spec into an abomination no one goes near unless it’s artificially made op fotm.

Then they drag their feet and take ages to make changes, if at all, even though they know most people are unhappy with it.

I get that blizzard likes to keep things fresh so they keep messing with our classes (great job security too, I imagine. ) but their track record is pretty hit or miss when it comes to the finished product.
