FOCUSING LORE / Trolls Priest

Firstable excuse me I am not a good English Speaker.
Anyone know why Darkspear Trolls could be priests, HOLY/ DISCIPLINE / SHADOWS taking a LORE perspective I would like to know your opinions enriched by yuor knowledge.
This is my opinion:

  • Holy: I understand that coming from the gurubashi the Darkspear would not have an adoration for Rezan, so where could this power of “light” come from? Or maybe EVERYONE came from the Zandalari they had it hidden forever? Does any other LOA of light exist?

  • Shadows: I’m not sure here either, according to blizzard, shadow priests are supposed to come from the powers of the void. For a Darkspear Troll this could be totally replaced by the Bwonsandi theme BUT !! This would already be Necromancy and according to Warcraft Chronicles It is linked to DEATH The only thing that would make sense would be that just as light and shadow created everything, Light is associated with living things (nature and order) and shadow with death ( Necromancy and Disorder)

  • Discipline: If we clarify the previous ones, I think we could clarify this …

  • IT IS ONLY FROM THE DARKSPEAR DO NOT MIX OTHER TROLLS UNLESS THEY COME FROM YOUR CAST AS FOR EXAMPLE THE GURUBASHI

If we ignore the Void aspect of Shadow Priests then patrons of Bwonsamdi would be the most likely answer. Embrace of Bwonsamdi evens gives all abilities a chance to proc shadow damage.

Most Shadow priests lost their cultural significance with the Legion class fantasy unfortunately.

From Wowhead:

The troll priesthoods are, much like the shamans and the witch doctors of the various troll tribes, spiritual advisers and caretakers. With trolls being naturally superstitious and spiritual, it allows the various troll priests to manipulate the spiritual energy of the world in order to either heal or harm their targets. The various energies that the troll priests draw can come from various sources, be it Loa spirits, voodoo magic or the target itself. Drawing upon these energies, the troll priests either mend or harm, depending on which blessing the spiritual entity bestows. Arguably, in World of Warcraft, troll priests can be considered witch doctors in a cultural perspective, in equal terms with the shamans.

Of course, there are outliers like Zabra Hexx who follow the Light in a more traditional sense. Otherwise, they’re likely drawing power from their patron Loa, voodoo, or the spirits.

I personally don’t think you have to have a “loa of Light” to channel the light through the loa. I think it’s just a function of the universe at this point, no matter which power you pray to the Light will answer. Sometimes a more specific holy power goes in it’s stead like assumingly many of the powers we see from Loapriests, or I guess in the case of the powers of Elune.

There was a time that shadow wasn’t as clearly defined as linked to the Void, so there has to be some heavy speculation until outright statements clear these issues out. I think that beings can use or be associated with Shadow in an ambiguous way, but not the void.

In other words, there’s a line between shadow and void, shadow is like a shallow pool, while the void is a deep ocean.

I don’t really think that becomes a problem. They all share a religion, but have regional differences. I say this because it’s clear all tribes look to the Zandalari for spiritual guidance.

It was thankfully retconned in Legion. He is shadow specc’ed.

idk if it’s retconned. It almost seems that way but unless I’m mistaken or missed some information about this, it’s unclear why he’s a shadowpriest come Legion. It could very well be there’s a backstory we don’t know, or more likely Blizzard simply forgot.

With the way that the light works, technically anyone would be able to use it, even if they don’t know exactly where the light comes from or what it is. Same with Shadow. It’s all just voodoo to the trolls, and how they do it is probably passed on from one troll priest to the next.

That is true, however his story never made sense to me to begin with, so in this particular case I’d be happy if he was always meant to be shadow priest.

Some trolls (such as Zabra Hexx) actually do follow the shadow (he was re-retconned to not be Holy spec), so its safe to say that some trolls don’t just worship Loa. I’m not sure if there even are other ‘Light Loa’ other than Rezan, but there are life ones, such as Lokou. It could also be something like sun/fire, but that’s mostly only used by Druids/Mages/Shamans. I could see ‘shadow’ actually being Bwonsamdi’s darkness, but he apparently dosen’t like Necromancy, yet uses it himself so…

Ahmanet here uses a very minor form of Necromancy (more closer to blood magic , its in fact not even close to holy, since her connection to Bwonsamdi/death cuts that off.) when healing others. So whenever she uses something such as Renew or even Flash Heal, she’s using necrotic magic to regrow damaged body parts

Shadra is giving powers for both shadow andLight magic, Priestess Mar’li was therefore an example of a Discipline priest.

Lokou was meant to have water affinity from what I’ve read so it would be more of a resto shaman thingy?
