I am on a new lvl 80 alt, farming, hitting some ore and herb modes. I have points in to herb while mounted, but have to be on the ground. With mining, I have some points in the skill, not enough to enable mining on a mount and I can mine while in the air. I am scared to death I am gonna get banned because I have no idea why this is happening. Help? 
I take it you are using Steady Flight while mining. It seems to happen if you hover just above the node. If you land it will dismount you. Not sure why it is happening but I have noticed it as well.
