Oh I play the game. I think that should be clear since I have 5 times the achievement points than you do. I just think mundane boring WQs barely constitutes “playing a game”.
Doing dailies is today, has always been, and will always be a “normal” part of gameplay. So yes, you can get PF from normal gameplay and doing WQs (which is today’s “daily”) is part of that.
If you’re someone who doesn’t do, or has never done, dailies as part of their “normal” stuff…you just level as fast as possible through whatever (BGs, Dungeons, etc.) and never touch the world again for any reason, then no, you won’t get it through your normal gameplay.
But to claim that no one can ever get PF via normal gameplay is a bit ridiculous.
I just hope this gets extended to shadowlands as well, Pathfinder should be the “I wanna save gold” route and buying should be the “I just want this character to have it”. 4k might not seem like a lot but it adds up with alts.
If you want flying “because it’s fun”(lol) then you have plenty of places you can fly for fun. If you want it because you find traveling tedious, then you are part of the playerbase that has pushed for excessive convenience that has degraded the game over time. You have plenty of tools to get around, the flight whistle alone is an extremely powerful tool that we didn’t have 2 expansions ago, people just pretend like it’s always been there.
I am inclined to agree.
That is something that can’t be argued away. It is one thing if you plan to go out and do such quests. But if you are forced to do them that is an entirely other discussion.
I know a lot of folks seem to think this way, but it makes little sense.
If you already do the things that are integrated into PF then you already do them. You would do them regardless. You are going to do them with or without PF. To claim that because there is now a reward related to those things you were already going to do makes those things you would have done anyway now “forced upon” you is just, well… goofy.
If you already planned on doing it, it isn’t “forced” on you just because a reward was added to the activity.
Forcing players to do something never works out.
This is why Blizz has had to cave several times in BFA alone because of this.
This isn’t my only wow account., I just started this maybe a few month ago.
Sure thing.
I agree that pathfinder can be accomplished thru “normal play”, even though it will still take repeating WQ’s for a few weeks maybe? That being said, when flight cost gold only, people had a choice on how to acquire that gold. You could quest ( dailies), play the AH, sell mats and transmutes ( yeah, maybe going back abit here
). In my opinion the best part of pathfinder is having it available for my alts when there leveling.
That is not what is happening here. The company is making this decision in order to fit flying into the new leveling scheme.
I don’t understand why so many posters think they are WoW’s first consideration. You’re not.
I wasn’t going to do it all on one character. I was going to space it out over several leveling characters, get rep for the professions that need it and only the reps needed. Instead I had to grind it all out on the same character, do all the things, do them all over again a few dozen times, wait the time gate… I did it with a hunter skinning/enchanting, so the reps are good for those professions, but I might not hate Nazmir quite so much if I’d been able to do those questlines first with a herbalist. (That’s not even going into essences first obtained on a pure DPS class…)
Its just how Blizzard designs the game now. They want a singular experience where everyone has the exact same experience doing the exact same things. That way they can more easily monitor, control, and ‘balance’ your gameplay experience.
It’s a terrible way to design an mmo. There’s no freedom or choice. They dictate everything you do…and why you do it. Pathfinder is a symptom of that flawed design.
But who is “they”? I would propose that the devs who created and implemented flight originally were a different group than those who were in charge after cata. I see it as more like “I wish they hadn’t done that” than “I wish we hadn’t done that”.
I think this is the sad reality. Lack of freedom.
It’s consistent with the approach that the concern about flying was making content too easy to bypass when the content is relevant unless the player has paid an equally time-consuming price for the by-pass right. Leveling content isn’t current content, so why not make flying available there other than through PF? It’s logical, and consistent with the approach for flying in current content that has been in place for a while.
They should be more concerned with making the game fun, rather than tedious.
I liked the way flying was, would rather pay for each toon, than do some boring, jump through hoops questing.
Hope they do TBC AND WRATH, until they remove the hoop jumping, i will not mess with retail.
Damn, that’s crazy. Don’t remember asking tho.
Seems the most successful part of WoW was vanilla through Wrath, wonder why? Just hope tbc and wrath come back and they can keep retail and all the hoops.
I preferred to earn the gold (for each toon), playing how I CHOOSE TO PLAY. Not being forced to play the way whiners, about flying wants everyone else to play.
