Flying should be unlocked with an epic quest chain

The epic quest chain would arrive with the first major content patch. Anything else Blizz has done has not worked! In fact had they stuck to that original plan and intent they could have used resources elsewhere instead of wasting time on patchfinder.

Would you have to do it on every alt? Or would it immediately be unlocked on all alts? Cause some quests are so dull the 10th time you do it.

They could make it account bound but Blizz has been against account bound anything lately so who knows. But it would be great for those with an army of alts. It would make most sense IMVHO!

  1. Give flying for free at the beginning of the expansion with a catch: You will be hunted down by the emissaries in mid air pelting you with nets and cannon balls who feel you have not earned the right to fly in their zones making it a bad choice if you want to afk with a Num Lock auto move.

  2. Stop these attacks by completing all zone storylines and exploring all zones unlocking a quest chain which begins when you earn Honored with all emissaries which will send you to each zone’s emissary with a mini quest chain earning you a flight permit.

  3. Finally, combining those flight permits will grant you the honorary Pathfinder privilege to fly in their airspace.

That is a good suggestion. It combines a lot of elements from the past with new ideas. Pretty good.

I wouldn’t mind a quest chain to unlock flying. Could be really fun.

It also gives people a sense of excitement and a motivation to go and get pathfinder than “Oh I need to go grind for flying again. I won’t come back to this zone once I get this”

See, i like the general idea of this. It plays into some of the systems being tested out, such as the aerial oppression unit found in Mechagon.

I forgot the amount of times I got owned due to that pesky aerial dumb thing!

It’s so good. I wish they would implement something similar instead of “LOL gotta get that rep or forget flying LMAO”

It discourages late comers from getting flight at all.
“Oh, the expansion is coming soon? This place will be irrelevant in a couple months? I can wait.”

You could marry both by hitting exalted through a mega quest chain, therefore the alts would have access to flying.

The issue isn’t exalted, the issue is having the same 10 quests on a mandated 10 week cycle. 10 quests. It’s the laziest garbage I can think of. Even if the story was bad, it would at least be a story that was evolving.

If questing allowed me to hit Exalted, I’d be fine with the grind. The issue is it’s boring non-sense for everything these days. They should triple the amount of quests each zone has. Quests is what made WoW what it was and is. They should revert to EQ by having a few quests and a lot of grinding.

I would not mind something like this. It would give reasons to why my flying mounts can’t/shouldn’t fly and other creatures can instead of the my dragons randomly forgetting how to fly without any explanation when they go to a new land.

Blizzard COULD have been the hero in this story by ADDING Pathfinder to the old Max level/gold system.
This would have NOT ticked off much of the player base as they did.
Adding Pathfinder to what we had already, would have made this game even better by rewarding players who do all the content by opening up ‘once for all’ flight while NOT TICKING OFF those who dont like to run all those mindnumbing grinds, but like to play the game for at least as many hours but in other ways.

They COULD have done the BETTER thing for this game and its players…but instead chose to try to take the lazy path instead.
And this is what we ended up with. A game that has lost MILLIONS of active subs and is in steady decline.

They seem to think pathfinder is working just fine the way it is. If I could modify it I would break it out so flight is earned for each part, with part 1 covering all the core zones of an expansion and 2 covering any new ones added later. Then I would make part 1 active after 3 months into the expansion and I would remove it entirely for older expansions (making those just max level to earn).

But after years of complaining about pathfinder, they have not shown a single sign that it is going away or being changed in any way.

Which is why, like we have MULTIPLE paths to leveling, they should have a few paths to flight…such as bringing back max level and gold on the same date that Pathfinder flight opens up.

Shadowlands may see an overhaul with the reputation system to coincide with the world quest 2.0 redesign which has been confirmed.

I’d be all for an epic quest chain to unlock flight rather than Pathfinder. I really enjoyed the quest chain for unlocking the dungeon set 2 pieces. This is also how GW2 unlocks their flying mounts for players.

Just take the timegating out of pathfinder. At launch, or even like a month after, once we explore every zone and finish the storylines, and do the stupid reps, we get flying. For the two new zones, put out part 2. Same thing again.

Yes that is a good way to make it feel rewarding while not being too punitive. There is an incentive to work toward something that is a tangible goal.

I would certainly count pathfinder as an epic quest chain!!!
