Flying really does ruin wow

I’m just going to leave this excerpt from Wikipedia.

“A false dilemma is a type of informal, correlative-based fallacy in which a statement falsely claims or assumes an “either/or” situation, when in fact there is at least one additional logically valid option.”

You either fly, or you choose not to play.

Sure I can. I can’t remember the last time I died in open world content that wasn’t due to me falling off something high and bubbling too early or too late.

Why withhold a clearly more popular than not feature behind the longest time gate in wow’s history?

You do realize the game has economies, gearing, and PvP, right? It’s not singleplayer.

This is a bad argument. You continue to play despite flying not being added for another year. Does that mean you think flying is bad now?

How do players not allow devs? Devs are not elected.

You’re on the internet. Every argument is a bad faith argument.

Choices should have costs.

I don’t raid. Raiders will absolutely murder their way through open world content faster in their raid gear than I ever will. The tail end of each expansion makes that fact painfully obvious, as they’re one-shotting elites in every world zone. I will be proceeding much slower than they will be. That’s the price I pay for choosing not to raid. Is it fair? There is no such thing as fairness in a game where players have such a wide range of power levels.

Choices should have costs, I absolutely agree with you, but in this particular scenario people who don’t want to fly are frequently told “then don’t!”

What’s the downside to fly, for those who like it? I don’t really see one.

this happens every new expansion so I am so use to seeing these threads appear it’s pretty well worn out now. Flight was never a Issue till ION made it one to max out player metrics with pointless treasure hunts and such. The fact he even refused to do it tells me he even thought it was pointless.

NOW they unlock flying for all those zones that needed PF but you need to pay gold for it Seems to me I saved money doing PF than paying for it.

100% agree - flying needs to be removed.

You are just salty so many don’t like flying. It’s ok I understand it’s hard to come to terms with that

The only argument you may have a point with is gathering. Yes gathering is faster with flying. Gearing? LOL no. If anyone is even remotely serious about gearing they won’t rely on WQs for that. Pvp? Are you serious? Wpvp is a joke that doesn’t matter.

Hmm, no I don’t. I’m not playing, I haven’t bought SL. I’m just waiting for my sub to run out.

I suppose there wasn’t a mass cancellation of subs when no flying going forward was announced. They put in pathfinder to stem the bleeding but allowing the devs to still stick it to the players that wanted to keep flying in the game.

I’ll never understand why pro flyers and anti wpvp players are so against Blizzard allowing those players to congregate on a server. If it’s so few of us then all we would need is one right?

1 Hardcore server

-Regular pvp server rules.

-No flying mounts so a little more world design may need to take place like teleports or extra flight paths. (Which ever is easier for the world devs)

This would pretty much satisfy everyone involed. The anti-interaction crowd can not interact together and blood thirsty wpvpers can fight each other all day long.

Sounds like a dream to me.

You mean like back in BC and wrath. I agree the game was meant to be played with flying.

You absolutely can play though. I choose to level as Prot because I prefer it. I sacrifice speed as a result. That’s a trade off I’m willing to make.

If I decide to go solo an old raid as Prot, I may run into a dps check I can’t meet. I can choose to come back later or switch specs. I usually switch. That’s a choice I’m willing to make.

Now, if you’re not willing to accept the slower choice, or do the extra planning for an event like the IC rares, that’s up to you.

Why does there have to be one? Sometimes things are popular because there’s no downside.

Got a mount too!

Problem solved! Just don’t fly! Is someone making you fly? Report them.

But you’re changing up the choice.

I don’t enjoy flying, and if I don’t fly, then I will miss out on content. You’re essentially telling me that I have to willfully handicap myself and miss out on killing the boss.

Perhaps now you can understand why that’s not a fair choice, when there’s no downside to flying?

I don’t know what the solution is.

It does ruin the game in some ways. But so does being able to turn warmode off/on and having no dedicated pvp servers and a population of carebears.

The levelling experience is too quick. Maybe in reality it hasn’t changed that much from back in the day, the approach has changed to just smashing it out quickly.

We’re all hitting level cap on first day now. It doesn’t make much sense to me to have to keep using ground mounts on content that was only relevant for a day either.

I’d prefer it if levelling was either a lot longer or a lot shorter. It took them ages to put that levelling experience together, and it’s done in a day. Seems like a big waste of developer time if that’s all they get out of it and then back to our instances.

Either make it take a week or two, or make it take just a few hours. (For the average player, am aware of 3hr world first).

The part I enjoyed the most last night was trying to quest past a group of 4 horde that kept ganking me. I tried to keep letting them get in front, but boy they were slow, i’d immediately catch up again. So it was fun stealthing around and chipping away at quests and occassionslly getting caught. Got some good revenge moments on them too.

That’s what wow used to be about, now everyone’s in instances 90+% of the time.

Idk if it ruins it, but having a mix is the best of both worlds. You experience the game on the ground but later you can have some fun and cheese it.
