Honest question. If flying were completely removed from the entire game, including flight paths, but you could instantly teleport to any hearth location in the game at any time, and without cooldowns, would you play the game? It would mean having to use ground mounts, like if you were in a PVP map or something, but you could literally be anywhere and everywhere on a regular basis.
No, I donāt think that would work out very well.

Depends if Blizzard smoothed/flatten the terrain out and give us climbing mechanics.
Sounds interesting but going back on flying canāt happen anymore. That they even added pathfinder is kinda egregious.
What youāre saying could make sense in a specific zone though. Iāve always liked flying but thereās no denying you shouldnāt be able to fly in every zone. Just think about how silly it was to fly over ICC, the lich kings extremely guarded fortress surrounded by a literal never ending army
yeah I get that. I should have mentioned the assumption would be that you could get anywhere via ground mounts, whether it be simply traversing terrain or by proper paths that could be accessed otherwise (say in cliff type situations).
I think things like gliders and simply jumping and/or levitating would still exist too, DH wings, etc. Just not actual flying, either DF or old-school variants.
I would prefer flying, but remove all forms of porting and hearthing and put mageās port/teleport on a long CD, to your scenario.
What is this obsession with removing flying when we just got a new version thatās going to carry over into old and probably new content??

Itās not an obsession with anything. It was simply a random curiosity. When I saw those AI images in another thread of the different zones, it made me think about riding ground mounts through other areas, and then made me wonder what it would be like to have to do that instead of just flying over everything.
I really wish folks wouldnāt constantly bring their anger-baggage into every thread as if itās just about them and their perspectives.
But is it so crazy to think there may be narrative reasons for why people shouldnāt be able to fly throughout every zone?
I think its silly when people blame flying for the death of world pvp but I think there should be times where, for logical in game narrative reasons, we shouldnāt have to fly
Honestly I like wow better without flying because it forces the devs to be more creative with the zones. Personally I wouldnāt play, I think it would be fun To do what Skyrim does, pay for a room at an inn but add that you get rested XP and a well rested buff thatās just like the well fed buff.
from that perspective, I personally wish you could simply define your āhearthā ANYWHERE outside of dungeons, and just be your camp/whatever spot. I think thatās what Vulperra do? Iāve never leveled one out of the newbie zone to find out, but I think that would be awesome.
Of course I think there should be multiple hearth options, too. Maybe one for every continent, perhaps. Really dislike having to go to org or SW to get anywhere.
My point is that there are people around this forum who want this and every time Pathfinder comes up, we see all of this āremove flyingā stuff. Itās not necessarily pointed at you but in general.

Honestly yeah same never touched a velpura so I donāt know anything about them. Iām not sure about anywhere, like when I think of an inn it makes sense because thatās where you go to rest after a hard days adventuring.
Iād say one hearth per expansion, one for BC, one for Wraith and so on would be fine but make it a spell rather than an actual item that takes up bag space.
