Good news! You can toggle shadowform off. Just make sure to toggle it back on before combat. 
That being said… I’d like a glyph to remove the visual entirely. It looks really bad.

On the flip side I’d actually like it if it was a holy form and it looked like my BE priest radiated in the light of the Sunwell with holy themed spells to replace the shadow theme.
I love shadow too though I guess I mean class skins.

It used to change your action bar so I just had it on 1 which when in Shadowform is Vampiric Touch and I always open with that so no matter what when combat starts I’d hit one.
I don’t think it has its own action bar now though 
smoke effects from lots of things are annoying like that. several mounts, i won’t even ride my ashes of alar because of it.
i absolutely cannot stand particle effects in my face.

I’m not a huge fan of toggling the glyph off entirely because shadowform has always been such a unique and defining feature of the spec.
I can absolutely see where you guys are coming from though! I can’t stand the current shadowform appearance (and the fart clouds) and really hope they add a way for us to glyph it to previous iterations - such as the classic style.
This is proof that the people on the forums like to literally complain about everything. Even the smallest things. this is why the game keeps getting crappier. it’s cause of these people bothered by everything. such entitlement it blows my mind.

I have a thing where I need to move the camera if I’m waiting for something and someone’s mount’s wings are flapping in my screen. GET THE DUCK OFF DUDE.
The smoke from shadow form is also one of those things that ‘triggers’ But yea, make a macro to mount/dismount and toggle shadowform on/off?

Lol… you can turn of shadowform if you want while mounted.
Turn it on and off every time you mount and dismount. I’d rather not play sp at all

Lvl 13 troll… Adds up. 4/10 tho pretty meh overall.
Your character that you spend hundreds of hours on looking like purple vomit (literally) is not a small complain. This is an MMORPG, the way your characters look is important.
Same reason you’re a Zandalari troll and not a regular troll - you don’t want to look like crap. No one does.
Same. Wish we could get one for boomkins too, the starfall glyph was cool for like a week and after that I just wanted to be a normal caster.
