Wtf do you expect to find in the in-between anyway…?
I mean you’re right and I’m sad if anyone who reads this post didn’t realize that we probably wouldn’t be flying ourselves from zone to zone but I don’t spend all that much time in all the zones a day. Most is covenant zone or flying to an instance which I’d probably use a FP for still anyways.
However when I am there though it is going to be great not having to deal with mobs that no longer hold any relevance to my characters leveling/gearing path.
I like the fantasy of flying a mount across the sky. Especially a dragon.
I like the pretty vistas. The Jade Forest is amazing.
I love seeing what the World looks like from above. Stormwind is a favourite view.
I like… no, that’s about it.
Those are good things!
Yea, not really.
Let’s see, what expansion had the most zones with no flying? BfA? Legion? WOD!??
Nope.
MoP.
BfA added minor “anti-flying mobs” which were 99% designed to just keep folks from flying up and AFKing. In terms of actual, as practiced and played flight, they had essentially no impact.
Flying in BfA was actually pretty easy to get. You could do a SINGLE, SIMPLE daily in Mechagon to get the the rep necessary. FROM SCRATCH you could get Revered with pretty much EVERYONE within a month of dinging 120 in with WQs and Emissaries.
They absolutely didn’t have to add flight to Nazjatar, but they did.
We don’t have 4 zones to “slow people down”. We have 4 zones because that’s how they want this story told. The smoke filled room mustache twirlers don’t have their thumb on that design either.
Uhm…not to be…nvm, yes I’m going to be that person. You had to take boats to other zones in other xpacs as well - it isn’t anything new. Sitting in an Alliance or Horde city and want to go say from Boralus to…Vol’dun, you had to take a boat from Boralus to the Zuldazar zone, and then you had to fly either by FP or by your own means to that zone.
You still have to take portals everywhere and if it’s from past xpacs, you have to go to Stormwind, or Orgrimmar. lololol

We have no idea how flying is going to work in Shadowlands.
Maybe you will have to use the flight path system to move between the zones, not that doing that is slow at all, you’re moving 10x faster than any flying mount. Or maybe flying through the designated gateways sends your mount through the light=speed tunnel and you won’t need to use a flightpath at all.
Either way, all you’ve got right now is tinfoil conspiracy and nothing more.
I could see them possibly putting portals to each zone within your Covenant hall to eliminate the need to fly through the wormholes.

This is what I am saying, they are phasing out flying…
Ahhh Shadowlands. The expansion of afk. Too much time afk because flights…makes me wander…curious to what’s outside.
Lol. That is true… but, you have to fly from bastion to maldraxxas alot more often, and they are small zones… All I am getting at is that Blizz is doing their usual thing and giving us what we want(flying) but in a weird twisted way…
Yeah! And how dare they make us take boats or zeppelins or whatever to get from Eastern Kingdoms to Kalimdor! The nerve of them!
I’m genuinely surprised you didn’t realize this from the get go and that you think this is somehow blizzard trying to get you.
People are being way too optimistic.
- Blizzard has said flying will be tied to renown.
- You only have renown with 1 covenant at a time.
- Therefore, likely scenario is that we will ONLY be allowed to fly in our covenant’s zone.
Flight paths from Oribos to a home covenant are roughly 50~ seconds one way. You’re looking at most 3-4 minutes flying and that’s on the high end.
Exaggerating much?
You’re just now realizing this?
I’m going to go ahead and guess you aren’t the first person to say this on the forums.
Lol I realized that BS real quick…
Engineering. SL wormhole. BOOM youre in the zone…fly wherever youre going from there.
