Flying Machine vs. Turbo Flying Machine?

Flying Machines are easy to make.
The problem is you can build 60 of them and it will only bring your Outland Engineering skill from 71 to 73. I know from making them on my alliance alt.

I just went through the incredible hassle of pushing my skill up to 75 on horde and learning the Turbo Charged Flying Machine. I made one for myself.

Altogether, the training and the flying machine were a 50,000 gold investment.
(for 12 skill points and 1 mount)

Hopefully I can make 30,000 back, but I’m guessing nobody wants those field repair bots for 300 a piece anymore.

Well, I guess I’m going to start selling Turbo Flying Machines for 2-3K markup for 6 months until I make the money back?

Anyway, what is the difference between these two?
They look almost identical.
1 sells for 800-1500
The other sells for 14,000-20000 …

Anybody?
Any perks, anything special?

Aside from their slight change in look, nothing.

They’re from an era where mount speed was tied to the mount itself and not our characters, so the more expensive one was originally the faster one.

but that’s long since been removed so all that remains is the appearance.

My guess is the investment to the turbo is much higher.
In TBC it was was a faster mount than the regular. So maybe less people actually have it so they are willing to pay more now.

So the only people who are going to buy this mount from me are: noobs, mount collectors who need to have every mount, and really rich people who don’t care?

There are only 4 listed on my server by 1 guy for 18,000. That seems to be the general trend – Not many for sale, not many people selling them.

Pretty much, and I wouldn’t even expect the noobs to be all that willing to part with that kind of gold. That’s a not insignificant amount for a person who doesn’t know how to effectively farm or doesn’t play a lot.

Other than that, Blizzard seldom ever goes back and does anything about old profession items when they make changes.

Which results in stuff like this, or engineering dynamite that does like 3 damage.

They should have given the mount a perk or something, I can think of many.

Detects Fel Iron Ore from twice the distance.
or something …

Seems legit. But yeah. New mount collectors would definitely want it but it does require engineering to use them. 1 for the normal and 75 for the turbo.

Right so, another reason why people would not buy.

If you’re going to bother to spend the time to get your Outland Engineering to 75 – Why would you not craft the mount yourself?

I ran into this same problem with flying carpets.
Tailors don’t buy them, and only tailors can use them.

The Flying Machine sells well though. I can push 10-20 a week on my server at 1000-1500. Costs are usually only 6-700 without farming your mats.

Yup. You had 280 and 310 mount. Regular Netherdrakes were 280. Arena nether drakes were 310. There were also 310 mounts like Ashes of A’lar, and probably some others that aren’t coming to mind.

They should make it so everyone can use them.
That would make them much more desirable to craft.

You’re opening up the market to 70-80% more people.
