It’s too late for “middle ground”. Blizzard added flying into the game, they need to live with it and accommodate it, not try to back-track. Restricting it from players randomly and using it as a carrot for subscription time shows a blatant lack of concern for player agency. I think this is what gets people so upset about it. There is not a logical in-game reason to not be able to fly, nor is there an in-game way to regain flying, it’s simply on the whim of the GM. This is very basic game design theory. Pathfinder, the way it is currently implemented, is not a suitable solution because completing it does not have an immediate effect on the player’s ability to fly. It only has an effect when the GM’s decide it should have an effect at some arbitrary point in time. WoW has greatly shifted away from player agency, which is why the game is not fun for me anymore. I feel that I cannot progress my character in the fashion that I want, when I want, and I am limited to the path that the GM’s have chosen for me.
Hmmm have done all levels of content I care to do .
1: LFR (don’t care about progression or higher level raids this xpac)
2: Have done all dungeons so far from normal to mythic on some (don’t care about mythic plus)
3: Have done enough Island Expeditions on this toon to unlock everything on the ship
4: Have done War Fronts
5: Tried War Mode (hated it only like doing random BGs)
Nope I’ve seen enough of BfA content to be bored enough with it to not want to do anything more with out flying.
I’m finding myself to be less persistent in current content and more so in forums and older content because both of those are more engaging then Bobbing for Azerite, Boring for All or what ever name others want to call this so called expansion .
Now I await your usual I will White Knight everything Blizz does response .
Nonsense. The people who want flying want to make it easier to go out and engage in the world. Flying isn’t some magic wand that completes quests and kills mobs just by flying over them.
I’d buy this more if world content was even slightly difficult to complete.
Yeah, we finally get to fly, then they send us to new no-flying zones anyway. Hopefully the new 8.2 zones will allow flying, but I’m not going to hold my breath.
It absolutely is an answer. It just highlights the hypocrisy of the people who say they want to be immersed in the world if they’ll take flying over ground travel. They’re not actually all that interested in immersion and just want to get stuff done more quickly.
And that has nothing to do with flying, but with queuing.
And I’d say that’s a failing of the dev team. Even MoP had the Cloud Serpent faction, but they’ve seemingly forgotten how to design a world with flying in mind and they’re desperately hoping we’ll forget how the game used to work.
Flying doesn’t make objectives ‘easier’.
It makes accomplishing them -faster-.
Efficiency isn’t important when someone is going to do something “once” and never again. But when you’re levelling up alts… and it’s feeling really repetitive, flying gives us that boost in efficient use of our time that we crave by that point.
Something god-mode admins/devs probably have no concept of.
Their paycheck should require them to visit and talk to five random innkeepers in the world every pay period. Using only the basic travel powers every max level character has.
I bet you right quick we’d have portals, flying, long-range sentient-being-cannons, tauren sized pneumatic tube transfer stations, Gnomish MechaConcorde express flights…
Yes 'cause heaven forbid people actually do not like something Blizzard does. I have pathfinder, doesn’t mean I have to like it or agree with it. Stop trolling 'cause your sounding really ignorant at this point or desperate for attention with your blanket replies.
This is seriously the most ignorant thing I’ve read today.
Blizzard is in business to make money, to sell games. What people do within the game is 100% a side issue.
If people that think like you are the ones in charge at Blizzard, it’s no wonder why the state of the game is what it is.
As long as people are willing to spend $15 a month on a subscription Blizzard shouldn’t give two craps about what they do. That kind of manipulation is backwards.
That’s like owning a restaurant and breaking records of selling food, but getting mad because they don’t eat it in the manner you prefer.
We are basically being punished for wanting a feature that has been in the game since BC. They will give it to us… but at a price.
Flying doesn’t hurt them and makes the game way more enjoyable for most players. I don’t know why they are so dead set against it. And I don’t want to hear the same old “we want you to experience the world” baloney… I explore a LOT more when I can actually look at my surroundings without fighting off a constant stream of mobs.
Really?
and yet other games out there arent so controlling about travel.
I can portal around ESO the second I find the wayshrine ports. I dont have to wait a year and I certainly dont have ESO removing my portals then blowing smoke up my rear end telling me some crap story about making my world bigger.
Sure you know what youre actually talking about?
I dont think so.
yeah…I get it…some players just have ZERO self control and cant just NOT fly if they have flight.
Thats on THEM, not those of us who want flight and enjoy it.
RP’ers seem to be able to control themselves when they role play. I wonder why flight haters cant do the same?
“Jesus christ…make your own CAR if you want Air conditioning and automatic transmission”
dude…go troll some other thread. Youre becoming boring at this point.
AGAIN IF THEY WANT TO SELL THE GAME THEN ITS ON THEM TO PLEASE THE PAYING CUSTOMER!
Yeah, yeah…foreign concept to your sort, but thats how it works.
what a joke.
Sorry but YOU aint in NO position to toss out statistics here, pal. TONS of people never say a word about being ticked about something. The just end up quitting instead.
And any ‘anger’, pal, comes from PAYING FOR a product / service then being jerked around by the jokers who produce it.
There are no flight haters, just people who want to argue on what they consider the “winning” side by supporting Blizzard’s take on flying. Flight has minimal impact on what others do in the game outside of World PvP, which is simply not much of an issue because it’s dead. Even with Warmode I rarely see any PvP taking place in the world. Crafting is laughable this expansion, and nodes are individual, so there’s no real competition or much reason to compete for resources.
Removing flight just masks how small the world is. Makes it easier for them to just cram more stuff into a smaller area. Probably shortens dev cycles, something they’ve struggled with for years.
