Flying in future expansions

In my opinion, next expansion they should tackle flying a bit different. First off I think the world should be more equipped to handle a ground level mount, there is nothing worse than traversing revendreth and having to find these elevators, or nazjatar with the layered elevation. The zones are visually amazing, but it is so annoying to walk around.

I think how it should work is the zone’s should be designed with ground mounts in mind, which means no annoying elevation issues. Flying it self should be given to us after some sort of server wide feat of strength was accomplished.

I know it isn’t the most popular idea since it is less convenient, but I do think it is better for the environment of the game.

Ooooooooooooooooooooooorrrr…make navigation by ground less painful by providing direct and mob-free lines of travel between major areas of interests.

I’d honestly prefer to unlock flying early on the expansion rather then timegate it. Unlock it by doing the zone quests and exploring.

Zones with “annoying” design are meant for ground travel, many players still enjoy the aspect of exploration.

This would be awesome. Even make it a certain percentage of players complete X, that way smaller servers won’t suffer.

Anything that makes servers important and more community-like is a plus.

Nah. There should be more serious threats. The world is easy and trivial enough as it is.

Keep the threat at or near the area of interest, not every inch on the way to the area of interest.

No please. Stop making the zone boring just so we can hit the autorun while not looking at the game. Ravendreth might be one of if not the best zone for anyone who actually look at their screen and open their map.

I can agree on the mob part. There should just be a big less mob and maybe more way to navigate between them.

Let me know when you make up your mind.

Ravendreth > vul’dun. Just play the game if you want to navigate in it. Those zone aren’t hard once you actually pay attention to the zone. Exploration is part of the game and being 2 years in the same empty area that you explored all the first hour that you play in it is boring.

And less mob isn’t the same thing. We shouldn’t be able to travel 1/3 of a zone in a nearly strait line without being close to a enemy but we should at least be able to carefully move between mob for certain distance.

wow, just out of curiosity, what does “LINES of travel” mean to you?

Flying in future expansions should be just explore the world, learn the terrain, get flying. Because they are gonna keep making the vertical maps with the annoying terrain, since the bigger maps cost more.

They are talking about paths that are already in the game that use to not have tons of enemies on them. Which is why the game still has the tip on the loading screen about being safe on them. But is quite outdated now.

They should be putting their money into the maps, it’s where we spend the entire expansion. If they want players to stick around, that should be ONE of their biggest priorities

Definitely agreed there. They seem to think differently though.

So just flat open terrain with no real detail what so ever like the Barrens?
That sounds boring. It’s ok to have to use the in game map from time to time.

The caves everywhere don’t add anymore variety. They even use the same inside layout for the caves. It’s all recycled. I’d rather be able to get around easier on recycled maps.

AND when someone of the opposing faction aggros a mob, I shouldn’t be on the mob’s aggro table just from passing by.

Really, the old way of having mobs not traverse the roads was superior. Minus the rare occasion, you could travel across one zone to the next and not aggro anything. Other game developers call this, “Level Design.”

nope, what is better for the environment of the game, is people enjoying the game. And if it takes flying for people to enjoy the game, then we should have flying right at max level like we did in the best expansions.

Elevators.

That’s really one of your big issues with navigating the game world? They’ve been here since classic and ThunderBluff…

Acting like elevators make travel difficult is just kinda… like saying stairs make getting around more difficult, are bad for the game, and should be removed.

Down with elevation! Let all zones be super flat and lands without feature!

No, just no. and more no.

You’re right. It’s purpose is the same as a ground mount, to make travel convenient. What you’re suggesting is the complete opposite of convenient. It’d be even worse than pathfinder.

Mount flying should be made as it always was prior to that, purchased with gold from the flight trainer. It was never a broken system until blizzard made it into one.
