Flying, Good, Bad?

“First off, I am not in the whole, flying vs no flying group, just to make that clear, this was just something on my mind and figured I would post for fun.” As someone who’s been playing wow since 2011 as a F2P and a paid subscriber in 2017, there has always been something on my mind as a little baby level 20, and it was seeing people flying, flying all over the place, while us peasants walked on the muddy, dirty ground of Orgrimmar. And as someone who has played WAY to much wow since 2017, I always felt something a bit wrong with flying, one part being it makes ground mounts feel obsolete, especially the hard ones like reputation based ones, or even the Uldir meta mount. I remember first getting flying and zip-zooming around, and never having to touch my Golden lotus Cranes again, however, I honestly feel like flying a lot of the time being boring, where when I was on ground I would make decisions like "Oh boy, I’m enabled for pvp and dirty Alliance is crawling everywhere, I could go through Poi which has a ton of alliance, but get there quicker, or I could go through this camp, but worry about getting dazed and torn apart by the Ogres or whatever, where I would have to think about my what I should do, instead of mounting up, flying out of range of the Net item, and getting there, record time. And it may seem like I am bashing on flying way to much, however I like parts about it, because going through zones like Blade’s Edge Mountains, or Zuldazzar, is a chore on foot with all the mountains and being very vertical zones in general, I feel like flying and ground mounts could have some unique potential. I have grown a bit fond, to an idea where flying is slightly slower then ground mounts, but still has the same freedom of movement, so I could scale this layer in blade’s edge, and continue on ground mount speed if I want to get there quicker, or be safer, but slower. Anyways, those were my thoughts on mounts in general in wow, I feel like it would be a neat little idea, so that all forms of mounts get the love they deserve, because lets face it, are you going to ride Rivendare’s death charger, or fly a ebony gryphon from moonbrook to stormwind. I would like to hear your guy’s thoughts on flying, and thoughts on my take on flying, and how I would change it, thanks for reading this, and have a good day.

Breaking up paragraphs good.

Flying is a thing that is in the game in some places and not in others.

First, paragraph breaks make for easier reading.

Second, anyone want popcorn?

Tldr. Cliffs?

Flying? Most alliance bfa zones are small. Based on how they did legion even if we grind out flying we will only get to use it a few months.

Flying should be available right at max level. Keep pathfinder but lose the petty and spiteful time gate.

Wait…so you played at level 20 for 6 years?

I see most people are commenting on your wall of text rather than answer your question. So I’ll try to actually answer it.

Flying has great advantages and disadvantages depending on how you want to play the game. For example, if you love world pvp…flying mounts are the worst. This xpac did add a net gun but no one is flying in BFA yet so I dunno how well it works.

However, if you just love questing, flying is amazing. WQs are such a pain to get to sometimes that sometimes I just ignore them unless I REALLY need the reward. I can’t stand doing archaeology for the same reason.

Plus, if Blizz wanted to, they could USE flying in the questing experience. Both BC and WotLK had flying only quest areas so flying wasn’t all about convenience. Flying could then be a goal to work towards, making it even better.

Personally, I much perfer flight. As someone who is a completionist, running around on the ground wastes too much time.

Paragraphs, good.

Wall of text, bad.

Flying in earlier expansions, good.

Then came along the current devs which hates flying and made it bad.

Flying is good.

Flying is a carrot that works to get players to complete lots of optional content that they may or may not ever do otherwise.

Of course, time gating flying for a year isn’t great and trying to coerce players into doing things they’d prefer not to do has cost a large number of subscribers as well so all in all it’s probably a wash.

I don’t mind not flying

Crazy I know :smirk:

Flying is always good.
Pathfinder is extremely bad in it’s current iteration, it would merely be an annoyance if it wasn’t timegated.

I’ve never understood this.

If you don’t mind not flying couldn’t you have the same experience if you just used your ground mount while flying is available?

That’s the worst example ppl bring up. I like wpvp, it’s called world of Warcraft not world of flycraft.

If only this was in ancient Hebrew with all caps and no vowels, then I could read it…

And you make up a tiny % of the total population of subscribers who like PvP but queue into battlegrounds and arenas mainly and an even smaller % of total players plus you have a net to dismount flying players.

Which totally skips the entire fact of players being able to completely opt out of wPvP for good now so…

I prefer no flying, but i’ll deal with whatever
