In the past when we get flying, didn’t we also typically get flying ghosts ? I’m still having to run back on the ground when I die in SL. Or perhaps I’m just remembering selectively?
I really miss stuff like that, i think there was a guild perk for faster movement while dead too, also removed as part of the war on quality of life
Aren’t you more immersed in the world now, though? You know, the world that is treated as a glorified lobby for instanced content in the first place?
There is a potion now that gives faster dead movement but it’s buggy and sometimes stops working shortly after drinking it.
Yeah another quality of life mechanic they either forgot about or removed. Not surprised at this point
So a perk we had once earned was taken away and now there’s a potion that may or may not do the same thing (if it doesn’t bug out), fantastic news lol
Sure but there isn’t much immersion while you’re dead. You can barely even see the world in that state. It’s just a chore. The main place I want wings is in Ardenweald where you have to run back if you die to the boss in the theater on one of your low level alts. That is a huge pain.
That is exactly correct.
wtf literally unplayable!!!
well given sometimes you end up stuck not even having access to spirit healer to take res sickness, yes it sometime is
u know back in my day back when i was ur age we had 2 run halfway across kalimdor if we died bro having a 3 minute run thru bastion or whatever is nothing
I’m talking about the cases where the only way you can resurrect is through using a web-site service to teleport your character to westfall.
I was around back then too, you know what was different about vanilla? If you stuck to the roads, you were actually pretty safe, if you pulled conservatively you were likely to go many many levels without a death. This is a stark contrast to today’s WoW, where the terrain is designed to annoy and frustrate, staying on the road means nothing and there are roaming packs of elites everywhere that charge, stun and knock you off your mount. Not to mention the fact that they could be killing the world boss on the other side of the map and give you 10 second lag, a death shouldn’t be a punishing ordeal in a world where you’re much more likely to get randomly killed.
there is no road in hinterlands
Kalimdor was easier to navigate while dead than these new zones, though. You could get to a road easy and it was relatively flat and mostly a straight line back to your corpse.
Really sucks that this fantastic art team is wasted on this garbage game.
While I fully subscribe to the idea that the art team has been carrying the game on their back for the past few expansions… they’ve stumbled with Shadowlands, in my opinion. Oribos and all the associated aesthetics, including Korthia, just feel dull and uninspired. While the Maw, Maldraxxus and Torghast look fantastic, virtually everything else just feels out of place in the WarCraft universe.
People cried about dying in the Maw. We’re literally in a thread talking about someone being dead. Let’s go ahead and not whine about the world being a glorified lobby when people whine about open-world content, which is already snooze-worthy, being too hard.
wait so now we’ve gone full circle and are saying vanilla questing was more easy and less dangerous?
Because thats not what the typical GD circlejer is. Get your hivemind right
Still there I do believe. It was just nerfed a lot. At first it was like 100% movement increase when dead, but eventually it was nerfed to like 10% lol. But yeah ghost flight was a great qol feature. Weird how these devs, blizz, whatev have been so fixated on slowing everyone down over the last 6, or 7 years, but yet encourage blazing through some content with timers .
If you played conservatively and stayed inside zones that were appropriate for your level, yes, vanilla was pretty easy in that regard. Not sure why you’re brining up this hivemind nonsense, we’re all individuals here with different thoughts and opinions, just because there’s a lot of overlap and some themes seem consistent, it doesn’t mean it’s the result of some type of hivemind.
Many aspects of WoW are a lot easier now like access to high end gear and rep grinds for example (the new place took what? a month? even though at exalted there’s no reward because it’s gated by other things lol) compared to how reps were in the past, as a human i handed in runecloth for months to get my nelf rep up so i could get a tiger, it was super rare to see a human on a tiger back then lol
Other things are a lot more tedious now though, i’m not going to go over it again because i already gave some examples in my other comment.
