It would be awesome to see characters with angels wings and dragon wings that are collectable through the game that also give the ability to fly without a mount. Wings that can be transmogify to all different elements magics and poisons through out the game

The classic map isn’t designed for flying, there are massive holes in the mesh in areas you can’t normally access.

It’s an instant turn-off when the artwork advertising a game shows characters with angel/dragon/devil/whatever wings. Why does every game need to have people with wings?

As mentioned above, the map was not designed for flying mounts and has significant problems. This was one of the major changes that came with the Cata expansion where they completely redid the entire map fixing all this issue which allowed them to add flying in the main areas.
Even if you liked the Cata zone changes, which many did not, since we are currently on the Classic ERA stack, it simply makes flying a non viable option as many zones had significant changes and would need to be completely redone, preventing the Cata maps from simplyre placing the ERA maps even if they wanted to.
Back to retail you go.
