Flying compromise

But nothing was broken. Why add classes?

True, but if I can’t play my favorite class as my favorite race, then what is there to enjoy?

he knows it true.
I started in legion when we had flight.
wPvp was soo often I couldnt even get my questing done. I had to move to a Pve server just to play the stinking game lmao

You’re seemingly against change, because why fix things that arent broken? Well if they never did, you wouldn’t have had your favorite race to enjoy. Why is altering flying any different from other changes? Some people might wildly enjoy dragon riding and be like “yea going back to old expansions is boring because no dragon riding”.

It is the KISS principle.

The compromise was either NO flying at all or they do the pathfinder. They are not going to do more compromises. However, I wouldn’t be shocked if they finally remove it and just let you fly from the start in one of the next expansions because this is a big topic and especially when LoL mmo launches among some others ones upcoming etc. they will do more things I think to keep people.

I am pro flying but I was fine with the compromise (and pathfinder still doesn’t bother me) because I didn’t want flying 100% removed. Plus, it actually gave me a sense of accomplishment once I unlocked it since that is hard to get anymore in WoW. I remember I used to get it downing new raid bosses but now that there are 4 versions of it, I haven’t gotten that sense anymore. And with gear how it rains from the sky and legendaries seem useless with how many there are and how it was in Legion, it made it nice to have that sense of accomplishment for something I put some work into getting.

Oh, I’m quite open to change in the form of additions, or fixing what is broken. I found the addition of Transmogs and Battle Pets and other Collectibles to all be great additions to the game. They didn’t really exist prior to their addition, you see. They’re not perfect, but they’re serviceable. I do think transmog restrictions need to be loosened, for example.

Adding a new race isn’t fixing what isn’t broken, though. It’s just adding something new to the game.

Mostly because there was nothing wrong with flying as it was? Well, unless you have to make those quarterly investor reports look good and realize removing it will artificially stretch out those engagement metrics to make things look better than they are.

And for those people, more power to them. I hope they enable Dragonriding outside of Dragonflight for those players.

It’d be nice if they didn’t disable and arbitrarily slap on restrictions to flight as it already exists though.

There are three things I don’t like about dragonriding:

  1. can’t use any of my old mounts (I hope they allow us to use them later though, at least the ones that use the same skeleton as dragonriding mounts)
  2. can’t go AFK in the air to go to the bathroom, make food, answer the door, etc
  3. can’t turn on auto run and alt+tab on long flights

Other than those things I love the concept, and have always wanted a more realistic flight option.

Only if it is disabled permanently in pvp/warmode

Flight at the start is going to happen because all other 'compromises" all it does is splits the player base. It makes the world feels smaller when you have X people playing the first half of the expansion and then Y people play the back half of an expansion. How about people X and Y be able to play the entire expansion without feeling ripped off?

Systems initially received with strong backlash from the community.

Why clutter up the game with multiple flying modes? Dragon flying is perfectly capable of moving you around, but for some reason people just want to afk fly through this game it seems.

Normal flying isn’t going away.

We shouldn’t have to compromise regardless. Just let us hit max level and have that be the “requirement”. Then hit spacebar.

Im pretty much ok with both of these with dragon riding.
The AFK thing has gotten me killed more times than not.
I hit the auto pilot and run to X and inevitably the wife says something to get my attention and when i get back Im standing at a graveyard lol

A gliding mini game isn’t that great. I am in beta and I can safely say people are going to be fed up with it three months tops.

Not that I recall, since they didn’t affect existing systems. Well, aside from certain World Quests as far as Pet Battles went I suppose, but I’d argue that was more of an issue with the World Questing system.

Replace, ‘flying,’ with, ‘PvP,’ and get back to me on Warmode.

Typically, I’m in favor of more options, especially when those options are entirely optional. They want to add Dragonriding? Great! So long as I don’t have to use it. Except they’re forcing us to use it if we want to fly.

There’s a reason I haven’t Pre-Ordered Dragonflight yet, aside from very lackluster pre-purchase perks.

If stipulation 4 is that it’s available upon expac launch and all I have to do is hit 70 and pay 100k gold then I’d be all in.
For 220k+ (going token rate) it has to be available immediately (for leveling) OF it needs to include a “store level” mount.
However, since Daddy Blizz hates flying so much I’m fully expecting to play a month and then play FFXIV until spitegate ends. :hear_no_evil::see_no_evil::speak_no_evil:

Until Blizzard allows normal flying it basically trashes years of farming reputation, boss kills, raiding, getting achievements, profession work and farming gold. I did not even manage to get Invincible until a few weeks back. Also, while trying to do dragon riding in beta I found it to be extremely disorienting and requiring reaction time I don’t have (I have never been able to play a rogue or feral druid effectively). I honestly do not see the point of the wait aside from forced content. I’m sure there are plenty of “so what” and “just do” comments available but I am sure I am not alone.

And you know this to be a fact because…?

Look, a green poster on the forums used to do the same thing, and insisted that Blizzard would never introduce a system that would let us use gold for subscriptions or store mounts/pets and such.

Token system intensifies

Guess who had to eat crow?

Never make an absolute statement like that without knowing the future. You don’t know the future, aye?

I remember that as well, although I do not remember it being half and half. It may have started that way originally, but to me, it seems to have tipped more in the direction of Blizzard stopping their bs.

Blizzard’s bs regarding this issue is the new rooster who came in and decided to stick some fingers in pies to rustle up some commotion. The monkey paw tactics need to end.

It reminded me of this. I agree :100:
